If Diallo stays in the NBA and gets drafted in the first round. All it does is prove to recruits and their parents even more that he'll do whatever is possibly best for the kid.

Again it is just my opinion.

I think he'll continue to recruit the best/most talented kids, no matter what, and see how the chips fall. Sometimes they leave after a year when Calipari thought they'd be a 2-3 year player (Bledsoe & Booker). Sometimes they leave after two years when Calipari thought they may be a four year player (Ulis). And sometimes they may leave without even suiting up (Diallo). Either way, I don't think Calipari is going to change anything in regards to his recruiting strategy.

I'd imagine that if you got Cal to tell you what he really thought, he's annoyed but wants to do best for the kid. I think he'd also say that Diallo was a great asset in practice to have an athletic body to go against Monk, Fox, Willis, and etc. Hard to tell.

May 23, 20179 yr Chris Fisher of 247 sports believes Diallo comes back. He said he thinks that if Diallo had gotten the feedback he wanted in order to go that he'd already been gone but that he's waiting to see what everyone else says.

May 23, 20179 yr I have thought he would go for the last week, but I do find it strange that he has yet to announce. I guess he's just going to keep all options open and evaluate everything until the last moment. Tentatively, I'd guess he stays in the draft.

Maybe even top 5. Top 5 pick in the draft is a WHOLE heck of a lot better than 27th, with the possibility of even falling to the 2nd round. The only downfall I see in coming back (barring injury and that can happen anytime) is if he actually isn't that good and he either performs badly next year if he stayed, or possibly not even get on the court. Then I would say stay in the draft.

I wish he would have gone ahead and played this past season. Which makes me wonder how truly good he at this moment as a basketball player. As an athlete he is outstanding. However where would he have fit in on this current team? He wasn't going to take minutes away from Fox, or Monk. Cal loved all the little things Briscoe brought to the court. Then Hawkins off the bench was huge. So makes me think he wasn't completely standing out even in practice against the starters. So it wasn't going to help him by playing and maybe no looking great. Just like how it was smart not to do the 5 on 5 part in the combine. Let people fall in love with him as an athlete, and get paid before realizing he may have a lot of flaws in his game. I think if he was completely showing out in practice, that he and Cal probably would have wanted him to play. Especially when UK was in their funk in early February.

Then I would say stay in the draft. You answered your own question about why he should stay, when you mentioned the injury. Yes the injury bug could happen at anytime. However, if the injury bug happens in college, and is a big injury that hurts his future. Then he may lose out on millions. When on the flip side if he is a lock for the first round this year, even if its late in the 1st round. He gets a guaranteed contract, and even if he gets hurt. He still is now a millionaire. If there was absolutely zero reason to believe he could get hurt. Then yeah it probably would be better to come back, and get picked higher. However there is no guarantee he wouldn't get hurt.
