June 29, 20179 yr Dare I suggest that FC Cincinnati has offered more thrills in 1.5 years than the Bengals have in a quarter century? I know the Bengals lost, but the playoff game 2 years ago was very thrilling.
June 29, 20179 yr I may not have a voice today but last night was absolutely awesome! The match, the atmosphere, the finish. It was all amazing. I'm not sure I could've hand picked a better match to attend for my first one. I could spend all day typing out a post about my experience and recap but it wouldn't do it any justice. So I'll just leave it with this: WOW!
June 29, 20179 yr Seeing that atmosphere last night on TV makes me want to take a road trip to Cinci or Louisville to catch a match in person.:thumb:
June 29, 20179 yr The fact that they did it without Djiby is pretty remarkable. He didn't play last night? Didn't realize that while I was working. Yeah, that's crazy.
June 29, 20179 yr He didn't play last night? Didn't realize that while I was working. Yeah, that's crazy. He did not. Has a sore ankle is what they said I believe.
June 29, 20179 yr He did not. Has a sore ankle is what they said I believe. Wow, didn't realize that. Even more impressive.

June 30, 20179 yr Nippert is one of the best outdoor venues in the country to watch a sporting event, and MLS is going to regret forcing them out of there when the move up happens. That type of atmosphere is near impossible to replicate... I absolutely love working there for big games at night, FCC & UC Football. There is just a different electricity/buzz there. I think it hurts Nippert not having control of a lot of the parking though, doesn't it?
June 30, 20179 yr Author FC Cincinnati shows there is no limit to what American soccer can become - SBNation.com That's a pretty solid take. Sums up what I like about the Open Cup and why I like where American professional soccer is heading. The key is to be able to maintain the enthusiasm when MLS isn't interested or says no. St. Louis voters just rejected MLS' demands and they're one of the country's few storied soccer towns. MLS isn't coming without a new stadium and they won't pay for it. What happens now will be interesting to watch. FCC, thanks to its owner's relationship with UC, has a great stadium situation. I'd argue one of the best in the country. Why shouldn't that be good enough? Congrats to the FCC supporters out there. If they get past Miami next round, I might even find it in me to pull for them in the semifinals.
July 1, 20179 yr The fact that they did it without Djiby is pretty remarkable. Or Kenny Walker who is their leader in the midfield

If they get past Miami next round, I might even find it in me to pull for them in the semifinals. I've been to many FCC matches, and wholeheartedly agree with the bolded. No new stadium will be able to come close to the atmosphere currently at Nippert and the Clifton community. A friend joined me for the Fire game ... one of those guys who "doesn't understand" soccer ... and said it was one of the best sporting events he ever attended. The Match was that compelling. FCC has built a solid case around its' MLS candidacy. It seems the only roadblock is the stadium. Right now, there is zero appetite in Hamilton County for public money for stadium. That leaves Newport, unless ownership can somehow twist MLS' arm regarding Nippert. Let's hope that comes to fruition.
July 12, 20179 yr Author Good luck to FCC tonight. Play hard. Play really hard. Play until the final whistle. Then play 30 minutes of extra time. Play so hard your legs hurt. Play so hard that you can't stand anymore... Then we'll see you in Louisville on Saturday.
