Oh my goodness!! I have always respected Pikeville and pull for their W against anybody else but I cant believe I read that. I can sit here and bite my tongue all night, but not on this one and nobodys whinning or making excuses because we did get the win! I can't believe you watched the same game the rest of us did and then made this statement! Maybe no penalties were called but boy they should have been. The poor, unsportsmanlike conduct was there without a doubt. THAT was the biggest gripe of the night. Not blame, not refs, not excuses...just poor behavier and attitude. Sad.

I'm with you belfry brat!!:thumb:

What were they? I remember 2 on Belfry and at least 12 on Pikeville.

Absolutely. I stood on top of the bank across the street. Pikeville crowd was ABSOLUTELY BIGGER and LOUDER. Anyone who doesn't want to believe it is kidding themselves.

oook Then you were MUCH closer to Pikeville. You were no where near us. And I can't believe you would actually think someone would kid theirselves about whos louder  . Like I said if you were OVER THERE that probably how it sounded to you, but I was in the middle of Belfry and thats ALL I could hear.

I heard this was a great game to attend.

It was fantastic!

Pikeville had like about 20 more yards I think but dont quote me. I heard WPRG and Im looking at the stat book but not making much sense out of the book. Pikeville had 80 some I think around 86 yards and Belfry had 60 some yards. But Pikeville did have more penalties. I really wasnt paying alot of attention on WPRG but it sounded like 11 to 6 maybe but the yardage did survive me. I figured Pikeville had more yardage.

This is a really silly contest--I don't think either crowd got to suit up. But if you were in the middle of one of the crowds doesn't it make sense that they were all you could hear? I'm just asking.....

I agree its amusing me though. Both crowds were loud at times and quiet at times. Both teams were well represented by fans and all the fans there cheered for their team and was classy.

he is right...

they did...

I heard it too. And what I heard the Belfry people saying was to get the poor conduct off the field and teach him a lesson. To quit warning him over and over.

Belfry Boy

Billy they was alot of warnings and alot of cheap stuff. Even Pikevilles Coach really got after a couple players hard on a couple different times for acting that way. He chewed them hard a couple times, why would you chew them out like that if they wasnt any. Its an emotional game but in order to wina game like this you have to keep your head cool and play smart. Pikeville is very talented but they let their emotion get to them and it did hur them alot this game. But both teams have a bright future ahead of them.

Saw that too.

uhhhh I didn't make the post that we were the loudest! If you will go back and read, the statement you just made, is the point I was trying to make to someone else who is convinced of otherwise. Its very silly.

The radio guys didnt make it sound like there was any bad sportmanship that amounted to much, they did mention the refs calling a couple of players from both teams over for a talk at the same time about keeping it under control. They did mention that Pikeville defensive guys were flat out getting after the Belfrey QB hitting him nearly every play after he got rid of the ball but they didnt seem to take it as dirty shots.

From a outsiders perspective I think Pikeville has got to come away from this game feeling great about their effort. Belfrey on the other hand has to be a little concerned, the Pirates dont seem to be dominating teams like I think they are capable of doing. Going in to this game I felt Belfrey should have won this game by more but the bottom line is a W and they did get that but if the Pirates dont improve guys they will not be playing in the Pizza Box later. Now as I said this is just an outsiders observations from listening to the game on the radio and from what I know from places like BGP, so dont tee off on me in the event anyone takes my posts the wrong way.

"There was no poor conduct in this game. No unsportsmanlike conduct penalties.

If anyone from Belfry got their feelings hurt, I'm sure it was unintentional."

Were you on top of the bank all night? If you were, it is no wonder you didn't see the poor conduct on the field. #2 should have been out of the game tonight. Also, why did he stay on the sideline while everyone else shook hands at the end of the game?

Before you say I'm whining- I don't have a relative playing for Belfry, but I have never seen Pikeville show such poor sportsmanship as they did tonight. They have a good team with a lot of potential this season, but several players need to readjust their attitudes. Pikeville football has too much tradition behind them than to carry themselves as they did tonight.

Pirates-Congrats on the win, but the fumbles have got to stop! Also, what happened to our tackling?

Pikeville-Goodluck the rest of the season.

First off, I would like to congratulate our boys for an outstanding showing of class, confidence, determination, composure, and sportsmanship. This is a direct reflection of Coach Haywood and his staff. One of the things that make me so proud to be a Belfry fan, is that no matter what stadium the team plays at, the first thing said by the opposing players, fans, coaching staff, is what a classy group of men Belfry has on their team.

Secondly, this was a great game to watch from a fans perspective. Both teams wanted the win badly! However, they both need to improve as the season progresses and quit making elementary mistakes!!

I have read comments made regarding the "louder crowd"...this is simple..if you were closer to the Pikeville side of the field, then of course they would appear louder, and vice versa on the Belfry side. I, of course, was on the Belfry side and didn't hear Pikeville at all, then I went to the concession stand and couldn't hear Belfry. The only fair comparison would have to come from the field where both sides would be heard at an equal distance.

Now...and I know this isn't going to be well taken by some, but I have to say that I lost so much respect for the Pikeville football program last night that it isn't even funny. One thing that I could attest for over the years is that Pikeville, like Belfry, was a classy, well respected program...BUT all of that changed after watching the Pikeville coaching staff allow a player to act in the most unsportsmanlike manner I have witnessed in any game for the past 3to 4 years. (And if you were standing on top of the bank building, across the street, then there is NO WAY that you could have seen the same player being reprimanded SEVERAL times by the refs and, in fact, the ref looking at the coach and telling him to tell the player to keep his mouth shut) I witnessed it directly in front of me. Then, how would you expect a true coach to teach this same player sportsmanship...if you are the coach from Pikeville, you send him to the sidelines at the end of the game instead of making him be the first in line to shake the opponents hands..ridiculous!!

Not only that, but when an assistant coach is turning around with the "players" and trying to taunt the visiting fan section, that was comical in my book. It was disappointing to me to say the least.

You can't control the behavior of the fans, but a coach should be able to control his players and assistants.

Thanks Coach Haywood for making classy men out of our boys!!

A large part of that was due to taunting of our crowd by players and coaches which isnt smart of them.

What about when the coach was giving his post game talk and belfry fans were yelling from the stands "Go ahead and cry we know you want to"..?

As I said, you can't control the crowd. It is the actions of the coach and how he controls his staff and players that shows the true level of the program.
