Well, 'tis true, but THIS year you can't say how weak we are, or how you kicked our butts, etc, etc, so you are taking other shots at us. How do you expect us to react? Like I said, this thread has become useless. Pikeville has homecoming next week, let's move on and get ready for the rest of our season. Next year will be just as good of a game, Belfry will return alot next year, they are very young...I know G. Epling is a senior, and May is a junior and I think Chapman is a junior. Belfry's defense is extremely young as well.. starting alot of sophomores. Should be a good one on Pond Creek next year as well.

This is ridiculous!!! I could then say the same about Belfry FANS too. Taunting our boys, etc....I don't know about the Belfry team, they were on the other side. But as for the statement above, you have no clue what you are talking about...:irked:

I know exactly what I am talking about, I sat right there and watched Pikeville players act really bad. Taunting was started by Pikeville players, not the other way around. Boys need attitude adjustment on big games, we won this one, but could have went either way. Sometimes bad attitudes in games ends up losing it for you.

You saw it differently then. One Pikeville player acted emotional after a series of....well, ask your pirates. The Pikeville players were trying to rile THEIR crowd, (that's what happens when the visitors AND the home team sit on the same side) and it got out of control. I am not going to keep defending our kids to you. Believe what you want, but you are looking through disgruntled "Pirate" colored glasses.

I think Pikeville gets the Monkey off their back next year. They have a very talented and fiery team.

Its just that when things happen right in front of your face, you seen or heard with your own eyes and somebody from the top of a bank across the street or on the other end of the field or stands during a particular incident, tries to tell you what you did or didn't see or hear :lol: well enough said...

He was on the ground all night long when the ball was already going down the field. EVERYBODY was talking about it all night, not just BGP members. It was really uncalled for every time.

^^^Exactly. Pikeville is a first class operation from top to bottom and this is known statewide. A lot of whining from a few of the Belfry faithful isn't going to change that. I hope the hurt feelings of these few are quickly healed. Anyways, according to the paper, Pikeville outgained Belfry in the game 293-247.

Obviously, alot of emotions on the field..and off the field. Couple of observations and comments:

 

As I stated earlier in the week...Harmon is an absolute load. IMO, he's one of the best backs I've seen in the Mtns.....compares closely with BHS great Doug Howard. I knew Belfry would have problems with him..and they did.

 

IMO, for the biggest part of the game, P-ville controlled the LOS. Anytime you can consistently avg 4-5 yds on 1st down..you're definitely doing something right up front. That being said...despite the strength up front...Belfry is just simply a little better. Better depth and much better coaching.

 

Haywood did a marvelous job in keeping his team composed throughout the 4th qtr. At 20-17, all the momentum was with the Panthers. One defensive stop and the game's probably their's. But Haywood and the Pirates stayed calm and composed and methodically wore Pikeville down.

 

You can say all you want about penalties, yards gained by which team, crowd noise...yada yada yada. Those things don't mean a hill of beans if they don't equate to wins.

 

Regarding the scores....yes, Pikeville gave Belfry their 1st score..via the penalty. Belfry gave Pikeville a score on the long run by Honaker. Pikeville gave up one on the KO Return.....Belfry gave up one on the fumble inside the 15.

 

This game was just about as even as they get...until coaching and depth come into play. And just as the previous 5 games indicated...this one was no different. Belfry has better depth and better coaching.

 

Game over.
