The Pirates had ZERO unsportsman-like conduct penalties, too.

What about the face mask and late hit penalties in the 2nd half? Those are unsportsmanlike are they not?

Pikeville could have been called for a late hit on the QB ALL NIGHT LONG and one Belfry player told me pinching, hitting, and grabbing in the pile was worse than another team Belfry plays every year..........

 

I root for Pikeville every game they play except the Belfry game but thats stops until they get some discipline on the Honakers or they leave Pikeville.

 

 

No about the game, there is no gap between the 2 teams and Pikeville impressed me with their football ability tonight, Harmon is going to be a HUGE stud for the next 2 years and I think your coach has you going in the right direction because Pikeville looked much stronger and better conditioned than years past.

The QB is live on a running play and if he cant take that then you guys might want to change the offense or something where the QB isnt running out fakes cause the second you dont decleat the QB on that play he keeps it and burns you alive with it.

First off, I would like to congratulate our boys for an outstanding showing of class, confidence, determination, composure, and sportsmanship. This is a direct reflection of Coach Haywood and his staff. One of the things that make me so proud to be a Belfry fan, is that no matter what stadium the team plays at, the first thing said by the opposing players, fans, coaching staff, is what a classy group of men Belfry has on their team.

 

Secondly, this was a great game to watch from a fans perspective. Both teams wanted the win badly! However, they both need to improve as the season progresses and quit making elementary mistakes!!

 

I have read comments made regarding the "louder crowd"...this is simple..if you were closer to the Pikeville side of the field, then of course they would appear louder, and vice versa on the Belfry side. I, of course, was on the Belfry side and didn't hear Pikeville at all, then I went to the concession stand and couldn't hear Belfry. The only fair comparison would have to come from the field where both sides would be heard at an equal distance.

 

Now...and I know this isn't going to be well taken by some, but I have to say that I lost so much respect for the Pikeville football program last night that it isn't even funny. One thing that I could attest for over the years is that Pikeville, like Belfry, was a classy, well respected program...BUT all of that changed after watching the Pikeville coaching staff allow a player to act in the most unsportsmanlike manner I have witnessed in any game for the past 3to 4 years. (And if you were standing on top of the bank building, across the street, then there is NO WAY that you could have seen the same player being reprimanded SEVERAL times by the refs and, in fact, the ref looking at the coach and telling him to tell the player to keep his mouth shut) I witnessed it directly in front of me. Then, how would you expect a true coach to teach this same player sportsmanship...if you are the coach from Pikeville, you send him to the sidelines at the end of the game instead of making him be the first in line to shake the opponents hands..ridiculous!!

 

Not only that, but when an assistant coach is turning around with the "players" and trying to taunt the visiting fan section, that was comical in my book. It was disappointing to me to say the least.

 

You can't control the behavior of the fans, but a coach should be able to control his players and assistants.

Im sorry you feel that way but I dont think were going to close down the football program because you dont respect us anymore. Ive saw poor sportsmanship by Belfry (Players and Fans) over the years and you dont hear me whining about it. And I dont want Belfry to like us and I dont like Belfry (But I do respect them and root for them when were not playing them.) Thats what makes most Rivalries great is 2 schools that dont like each other. Actually thats my definition of a rivalry.

I totally agree Pirate Pal, the player in questions should have been sent to the locker room, well before halftime, I seen the coach getting in his face and then pat him on his butt and send him right back in, and then he would do the same thing, I mean some sort of corrective action should have been taken, It was clearly obvious to the Pirate fans and to the Coach, so why are Pikeville fans arew here disagreeing with what happened.

You hit the nail on the head. There were no late hits on the QB....He is open game when he is caring out fakes!:thumb:

 

If this was the case, and the QB was getting hit while carrying out his fakes, then that is just good football by Pikeville. Anytime a QB looks like he may have the ball, he is fair game to the defense.

 

Like I said, I wasn't there, but if what you all are saying is true, the Pikeville players were just doing what they're supposed to do.

I've only heard one Panther supporter (mojo68) man-up and say the only thing that needs to be said:

 

Belfry 24 - Pikeville 20.....Yes, it is 6 in a row and we hate, but we'll try to end the streak next year.

 

But then again, I really didn't expect many of the Pikeville supporters on this site to reply any differently.
