How have transfers effected you area, and how will Charter Schools effect it

What's going on in Winchester that is so appealing to families? Is the local economy booming? Are there plentiful good paying jobs to be had? All legit question. I mean if these families are moving in for other reasons that basketball then what are they?

I've stayed on the sidelines in this thread and I'm not going to get too involved at this point just the questions that come to my mind.

Because these are non basketball related transfers right? They all just happen to be really good players. That one heck of a * coincidence ain't it. :idunno:

I feel for all of the kids whose seasons and/or careers have come to an end this week but Mason had 4 minutes after this controversial call to take care of business.

Congratulations to GRC!

^^This.

If Mason had won none of this would have been brought up.

Just because the discussion wasn't on here doesn't mean it wasn't being talked about. The girls program at GRC has been talked about majorly by a lot of 10th region people. Win or lose that game I think everyone would like to know what is so appealing about Winchester?? Doesn't seem like that nice of a place but maybe there is something there that we all don't know about, that's all I'm seriously wanting to know??

This is by far the best post on this thread.

And if I may expand on this Why is it the girls team that is reaping the rewards of this and not the boys? Seems to an outsider lookin in that if the economy and jobs and location are that great some good boys ball player would find their way to Winchester as well.

Just food for thought, when comparing GRC with Mason from a scholastic rating, according to the USNews, GRC is a silver medalist and ranked 19th in KY. Mason is ranked with the Bronze and considerably farther down the line. Don't read anymore into it than face value.

maybe they are and the transfers don't play sports.

Valid point

Harrison I believe.

I can't seem to find this Harrison girl on Mercer County's roster from last year, or the year before that or the year before that?

Harrison I believe.

If she is from Mercer County no one here recognizes her name and she never played basketball at Mercer County.

It's not Mercer.

Transfer thread again? Really??

It doesn't matter why they want to leave one school and go to another one.

Kids should be able to go to whatever school they want to go to.

End of the discussion

FYI...I think Harvey was thinking of the one point when the 5 ladies on the floor were originally from MoCo, East Jessamine , Lloyd Memorial, and sisters from Nicholas/Bath Co. Although the youngest girl to my knowledge did not play H.S. ball anywhere else. The true reason they are now at GRC only they and their parents know for sure.

Congrats to GRC. They assembled their talent and won with it. I'm sure they aren't the only school that has done this. Time to move on.
