St.X 44- Cov Cath 21.

St. X is too strong but the Colonels should be better offensively as they get another week of seasoning. what a greuling schedule for Cov Cath so far....

Grueuling schedule! Boone, Dixie, New Cath, Beechwood. Are you serious.

At the begginging of the season you would think they were going to be tough games because of how well these teams did last year. But now I have to agree with you.

St. X's hallmark is defense. I'd love to see CovCath win, but they aren't going to score, at least on St. X's first team D. St. X 31-0.

Dixie and Boone I concede are not usually very good. But NCC defending A champs, and Beechwood always a NKY power. Come now don't sell the CCH schedule short. And are we forgetting Elder, who is never a slouch.

And as for the game... I would love a CCH upset, but I just can't see them winning.

X - 31

CCH - 21

CCH scores a late TD to make it more respectable.

I'd look for a better defination of grueling. CovCath's opponents are 8-13 on the season. Their four in state opponents are a whopping 5-12.

Unless NCC gets to start the game with a 10-0 because they won state, I'm not sure how what they did last year affects this year at all.

As for the game, I agree with those of you who have noticed how good St. X's defense is. A lot of people have referred to X's close lost last week, without mentioning the week before they played the No. 8 team in the country and held them to one TD. This is certainly not the week CovCath's offense finds any answers.

That said, the CovCath defense is very good as well. Good enough to keep this one respectable.

It"s not Cov Caths fault that North KY. football is horrible, except for Highlands and Cov Cath. They play what are supposed to be decent teams in North. Ky., like DIXIE (horrible), Boone (horrible), New Cath (horrible) and Beechwood (horrible) which are suppose to be OK teams. Fact is these teams are OK if they stay within their little circle of North KY teams. Cov Cath already goes outside the area to find decent competition and gets flack from many for doing it. Who do you want them to play? They beat the snot out of all North KY teams except Highlands. Not their fault. Wont have these kind of comments if teams like DIXIE, BOONE, and NEW CATH start fielding decent teams on a regular basis instead of one average team every 4 or 5 years. Colonels win a shocker this week.

True. Just stating that it's so. IMO, Beechwood was much much better than NCC last year, but NCC walked away with the rings. Don't ask me how though.

Perfectly stated on the schedule

I hope your right on the score but I'm not holding my breath

At the begginging of the season you would think they were going to be tough games because of how well these teams did last year. But now I have to agree with you.

While I understand (sort of) why CovCath plays Beechwood and NCC, even in Beechwood's and NCC's best years, they shouldn't be tough games for CovCath 19 out of 20 games due the great disparity in size between CovCath and Beechwood/NCC. I can understand close games at half, but CovCath superior depth should result in them winning almost every time they play. Since R has become the head coach and has seemingly done much more two platooning than Ray did, CovCath has dominated Beechwood and NCC (totally spanked NCC last year, and last year was one of NCC's best teams ever, and while it was a close game last year with Beechwood at half, CovCath's depth made it a no doubter in the second half). I'm not trying to start an argument (but just probably did) with the NCC or Beechwood folks:banana: but the depth issue really comes into play when a middle to large AAA school plays an A school. CovCath does play a great schedule, but I do not include Beechwood or NCC as part of that grueling schedule. X, Elder and Watterson, along with district rivals of Highlands and S. Oldham make it a grueling schedule, but no more grueling than Highlands playing Lou. X, Elder and DeSales. And I'd like to think that Southwestern and Madison Central in most years would beat NCC and Beechwood.

Anyway, good luck to CovCath this week. Here's hoping that the X players, satisfied in knowing that they played a very close game with one of the best teams in the country, look right past CovCath in getting ready for GCL competition ( I think they play Elder next week). If they do, CovCath has a shot. Bring your best game Colonels and beat those Bombers.

Isn't Byrne S.C. #2 in the nation?

I think X will be trying to make a point in this game. Sadly CovCath will get a beat-down this week.

Moe played Byrnes. X played Lakeland (FL)...

Is this game on TV like last year?

Let's hope not.

Nice post LN.

I hope it is a close first half, but the big boys usually roll in the 2nd. Defensive secondary for X looks great. Just too much for the colonels.
