CovCath @ Cincy St. Xavier Predictions

Featured Replies

I'm not trying to start an argument (but just probably did) with the NCC or Beechwood folks:banana: but the depth issue really comes into play when a middle to large AAA school plays an A school. CovCath does play a great schedule, but I do not include Beechwood or NCC as part of that grueling schedule. X, Elder and Watterson, along with district rivals of Highlands and S. Oldham make it a grueling schedule, but no more grueling than Highlands playing Lou. X, Elder and DeSales. And I'd like to think that Southwestern and Madison Central in most years would beat NCC and Beechwood.

No argument here. Even if you do root for the wrong side of Memorial Prkwy.

It"s not Cov Caths fault that North KY. football is horrible, except for Highlands and Cov Cath. They play what are supposed to be decent teams in North. Ky., like DIXIE (horrible), Boone (horrible), New Cath (horrible) and Beechwood (horrible) which are suppose to be OK teams. Fact is these teams are OK if they stay within their little circle of North KY teams. Cov Cath already goes outside the area to find decent competition and gets flack from many for doing it. Who do you want them to play? They beat the snot out of all North KY teams except Highlands. Not their fault. Wont have these kind of comments if teams like DIXIE, BOONE, and NEW CATH start fielding decent teams on a regular basis instead of one average team every 4 or 5 years. Colonels win a shocker this week.

I didn't blame CovCath. But, the fact of the matter is their schedule hasn't been grueling to date. It becomes much more so Friday.

While I understand (sort of) why CovCath plays Beechwood and NCC, even in Beechwood's and NCC's best years, they shouldn't be tough games for CovCath 19 out of 20 games due the great disparity in size between CovCath and Beechwood/NCC. I can understand close games at half, but CovCath superior depth should result in them winning almost every time they play. Since R has become the head coach and has seemingly done much more two platooning than Ray did, CovCath has dominated Beechwood and NCC (totally spanked NCC last year, and last year was one of NCC's best teams ever, and while it was a close game last year with Beechwood at half, CovCath's depth made it a no doubter in the second half). Anyway, good luck to CovCath this week. Here's hoping that the X players, satisfied in knowing that they played a very close game with one of the best teams in the country, look right past CovCath in getting ready for GCL competition ( I think they play Elder next week). If they do, CovCath has a shot. Bring your best game Colonels and beat those Bombers.

In most years, I'd take Beechwood and NCC to beat Madison Central and Southwestern. Heck, I'd even take it this year, as long as I pair the opponents.

I'd like to see CCH pull the upset...but don't think it will happen. I just hope CCH doesn't get key people hurt. That always scares me when schools step up out of class. Good Luck to the Colonels....for this game!

Is there any coach that doesn't say the other team is well-coached?
