CovCath @ Cincy St. Xavier Predictions

Featured Replies

I would like to see Cov Cath win because they are a NKY team playing an Ohio team but I think Cincy St. X will beat them by at least 3 td's.

I'm sorry, did CovCath pack and lose this game already and I missed it?

Where is the fire?

Where is the heart?

Where is the SPIRIT THAT WILL NOT DIE!!!

Folks, this game isn't going to be nearly as bad as any of you think. Let me tell you that. Let me give you this from an Ohioans perspective.

First off, St. Xavier's offense is not as good as last year, and that's not saying they were any good last year. Didn't they only manage 1 offensive TD vs. CovCath last year? And isn't this year's CovCath squad supposed to be better defensively?? Minus the first game against Huber heights Wayne where they scored 52 points on a team that didn't even know when or IF they were going to play, they have averaged a whooping 18 pts/game....18 pts/game! On top of that, superstar Jr. RB Darius Ashley is playing injured. He is playing, I think, with a case of Turf Toe. Didn't seem to hamper him last week as he rushed for 120 yards against Lakeland but you never know when it might be an issue.

Secondly, the defense is good, very good. But they are also very opportunistic. They give up an average of just over 240 yds/game and have allowed an avg of 13 pts/game. They have 4 fumble recoveries and 3 INT's on the year. So, if you make a mistake, chances are, St. Xavier will make you pay.

Listen, I'm not here to tell you that CovCath is the favorite, because they aren't. But they certainly aren't going to lose the way most of you suggest. In fact, I contend that if CovCath can bring a big crowd, have ZERO TURNOVERS, and don't get themselves in trouble with stupid penalties, they have a chance...A CHANCE....to win this game. :ylsuper:

To any CovCath players reading this: SMACK THEM IN THE MOUTH! Keep your composure, play hard, play smart, and don't be intimidated by the home crowd. It will be loud and it will be high energy, but PLAY YOUR GAME!

I won't give a prediction but I will say that barring any CovCath mistakes (which they had a habit of in the Elder game), St. Xavier won't score more than 21-24 points in this contest.

The real question is will CovCath's offense have enough to score 3 TD's. If they can, they have a shot.

Best of luck and GO BLUE COLONELS!!!
