I'm not sure what this accomplishes other than symantics. You basically have this today with every team having a chance to play thru their respective districts.

Putting some of these lower ranked teams against the regions best simply sets up a lot of lopsided scores in the first round. I also enjoy the banter for district seedlings and how those regular season games play out

I guess fun to play with but again I'm not sure it accomplishes much other than giving out participation ribbons

It would take a 2/3 vote to make this happen I believe.

Disregard this is wrong.

Districts are the same. Finals on Thursday. Region on Saturday. It would be the same as having the SEC tournament. It still means something but if you lose, you still get to play in the NCAA tournmanent.

I'm not sure how they plan to see as of right now, but I would have a "selection show" on early Friday morning after districts where they put together Rankings from LIT, Cantrell, and BGP.

brought to you by the PCRO family of networks!

I would switch GRC&Scott make paris play Scott in the semis and Campbell GRC

Why.....?

I agree, it's a participation game, nothing else, especially for the 10th region. I appreciate what it would bring concerning regional excitement, but the finals are a forgone conclusion. The disparity in talent from top to bottom is obvious, no cinderella is going to emerge like you'd see in college.

Camels

Greyhounds

It would take a 2/3 vote to make this happen I believe.

Here is the no votes for sure:

Augusta

St. Patrick

Robertson

Nicholas

Silver Grove

Calvary

Here is your yes votes for sure:

Scott

Campbell

Brossart

The only reason I say they are for it is because they know earning the 1 seed in the district means they go the regional. The other two slug it out and see who goes with the one seed.

It gets tricky with every other school in the region (Mason, Bracken, Pendleton, Harrison, and the entire 40th district.

I don't seed how a super regional benefits Mason or Bracken. They hope to not draw each other every year I get that, but would you rather play Augusta or St. Pat or (sometimes) for a chance to get into the elite 8 of your region or have to possibly play one of the other teams on this list.

You could take the same argument and make it for Harrison and Pendleton that you make for Bracken and Mason.

In the 40th, which I believe to be the toughest district 1-4 in the region I have no idea what would be done. Yes it would benefit Paris this year, but would it every year? Yes it would hurt MoCo this year, but would it help them in other years.

If you need 2/3 vote to pull it off I think the 10th would struggle to get it. My guess is this would be how it comes out:

Yes:

Scott

Campbell

Brossart

GRC

Montgomey

MoCo

Paris

No:

Calvary

SG

All four of the 38th

All four of the 39th

That would tally to:

No- 10 (58%)

Yes- 7 (41%)

To get the 2/3 vote you would need 12 total votes which is 70.5 % of the vote.

I don't think it would pass.

I keep going back and looking at this to find ways to make it better. I think I would need to move the round 3 games to Saturday and then have the championship game on Monday. To give each team a day to prepare

I think your point is very critical. If we want to send our best to Rupp, it only makes sense to have a rest/prep/heal day between semi's and finals. The snow cancellation last year had a major impact with semi's and finals back-to-back.

Who would do this? Would have to have a committee from each region to do this. They would have to watch games throughout the season to determine the seeding from the human element you speak of. KHSAA would not use the opinions of people who post on message boards. Too many biased opinions.

I'd definitely put my name in for being on that committee.

I think the rankings should be done with:

Human (Bluegrasspreps)

Computer (Cantrell)

Coaches

Each one being 1/3 of the rankings.

Liking this concept more and more. Thinking to add real value to Districts have both Championship and 3rd place game. Champion gets a 1; Runner-up a 2; 3rd place a 3; and 4th place a 4. These numbers are added into the overall seeding as a 4th factor. Don't know if all 4 factors are equal weighted or some other matematical weighting is assigned

One reason I don't like that is because it sort of it same as it is now. If you do it by Rankings 1-16 it ensures the best 4 teams are remain, then then the best 2. GRC, Paris, Scott, Campbell should all be in the final 4.

I think the Super Regional is a GREAT idea, all schools benefit from it by getting to play in the post season. The whole "the best team doesn't always win theory wouldn't be as much as a factor as the best teams have a higher chance to advance to the finals.

I think for this to work, you need to have it as standings and not rankings. Meaning that each 10th region team plays each other with tiebreakers agreed upon. One team is home one year and the next year they are away in the series.

I like this idea. I want there to be a way for a team to see where they are every week and if they gained or lost a seed spot.

The only reason NCAA started to come out with their top 16 teams is because it draws more interest in the sport!. It gives us BGPers something to talk about til the actual tournament.
