Districts are the same. Finals on Thursday. Region on Saturday. It would be the same as having the SEC tournament. It still means something but if you lose, you still get to play in the NCAA tournmanent.

 

I'm not sure how they plan to see as of right now, but I would have a "selection show" on early Friday morning after districts where they put together Rankings from LIT, Cantrell, and BGP.

 

Think I would use the LIT, Cantrell, and coaches poll to determine seeding.

1-4 seed teams get a bye, and don't play until the quarter finals.

12 and 13 have play in game.

5-12 (13) seeds play in the second round for the opportunity to play 1-4 seeds

in the quarter finals.

If it were to change I would go the other way, and just take the 4 district winners to play in the region. I've never understood district losers moving on, but no other post season loser staying alive (you don't see region runners-up playing in the state tournament). If you make this change, the KHSAA could allow for a 31st regular season game.

 

I don't really like this super-regional idea. It devalues the district and adds a first round to the region that doesn't add much excitement.

I think it would definitely make the "draw" argument mute. The Districts would basically just be for show unless you are going to make each District champ the automatic top 4 seeds.

Why play the district if the next week everybody is playing in the regional tournament? You need to eliminate the district tournaments if this would ever be adopted.

Jullian Tackett stated that it was never a plan to eliminate the district tournament. That's why I did not attempt to change it.

I like this idea. Still gives district some meaning. However I'm still waiting to hear on how the KHSAA plans to seed the super regional.

Who would do this? Would have to have a committee from each region to do this. They would have to watch games throughout the season to determine the seeding from the human element you speak of. KHSAA would not use the opinions of people who post on message boards. Too many biased opinions.
