February 12, 20179 yr HGTV has a buffet of these shows. What say you...which one do enjoy the most, the least....feel free to top 3 them??? Mrs C1 and I enjoy fixer upper. We enjoy the husband wife dynamic. They are very creative and work well together. We like the format with allowing a buyer to choose amongst three houses, choose amongst three upgrades, and who cannot appreciate incorporating their kids into the process before they let the wife loose to stage the house with a family meal together before reveal! :thumb: Amazing how much more house you can get in Waco TX vs. the crazy #s we see square footage wise on the west coast and east coast!!! Property Brothers would be our #2!
February 12, 20179 yr I don't pay much attention to the titles, but I can lose a few hours watching them. I like them all.
February 13, 20179 yr I love This old House and Mike Holmes' many shows. There is new show on DIY called Restored which is neat. I like first time flippers and Renovation Realities
February 13, 20179 yr I love Fixer Upper, too. Just watched an episode where they remodeled a houseboat. Wow!
February 13, 20179 yr Fixer Upper because its by far the most reasonable one. Most places range between $150,000-$400,000. On Property Brothers you'll have some absolute garbage houses that are like $750,000.
February 13, 20179 yr We watch several of them, Fixer Upper included. However, we've become a bit jaded about it after reading a couple of stories about the show/couple over the past year or so (and none of it has to do with their religious beliefs!) The first story was about the items included in the final reveal. So much is usually made about her picking out the right things to decorate for the (insert name) family. In reality, none of it stays with the house. If the homeowner wants it...they have to buy it. I've got no problem with them staging the house, but don't make it seem like you're doing something special for the family, when they're going to have to pay for it. The other story revolved around how the Gaines' were upset that some of the families had decided to either sell their fixer upper, or worse, rent them out (gasp!). Seems like people are interested in staying in one of their remodeled homes that they've seen on tv, and are willing to pay for it. I say fine. Chip and Jo have a.) gotten paid for the project, and b.) have already milked it for their own publicity to begin with...so, who cares if the homeowner gets something out of it? And what really put me over the edge with the last story was the fact that they did their "own" fixer upper and turned it into a B&B...specifically for renting out. And then have the sheer audacity to charge $695 to $995 per night to stay there (oh, and did I mention a minimum 2 night stay?) They may be a nice couple, but it makes them seem very petty criticizing others about this.
February 13, 20179 yr I love Fixer Upper, too. Just watched an episode where they remodeled a houseboat. Wow!Saw that one. What a cool deal. Also liked the Beachum's house. The parents of Kelvin Beachum, former Steeler, current Jax Jag.
February 13, 20179 yr :no:Come on CWB. Gotta have some give and take. She watches all the football I want, so I have to watch her stuff. I'll admit I really like the Magnolia Farms duo. As a matter of fact, it has blossomed to a trip to their place in Waco. We have a terrific trade-off. We are going there and I'm turkey hunting in hill country while we are there. Married life is a series of trade-offs.
February 13, 20179 yr First Time Flippers: unbelievable what some of these people do and the notes / captions when they are doing it is excellent. Rehab Addict: primarily for the host, she talks a lot but I really don't know what she is saying...
