Family and financial security always have to come first. If it is that much better for him and his family to go to McCracken County then no one can fault him for doing that.

One other thing he could do that people aren't mentioning is go to McCracken and take 3 stipends and a higher salary like Jackson and MAX out his 3 highest salary years for when he actually retires. The retirement is based on a percentage of what you made your highest years.

While I would speculate for money reasons that Morris will leave Mayfield before too long, it isn't likely that he will do so in KY where the system will not allow him to draw nearly as much and yes I have been told how much and its decent but it would be wrong for me to say. I think it is well known here that he wants to reside here and TN is only 20 minutes South. When he leaves, and he would be nuts at some point not to, I think it will be to TN or to UT Martin as a assistant where he played. I have herd a rumor that they have approached him before. I would guess Murray State could also be a possibility but I have never heard any mention of them.

I see your point and I'm sayin Coach Morris has a right to do any darn thing he wants, but that would be a big switch.

I don't see Coach Morris leaving Mayfield for at least another 4-5 years, then I look for him to retire from coaching and assume another role within the system.. If he did leave for McCracken, I could see several of the best players from PT all lining up to enroll in McCracken.. I'd also bet you'd see kids from Massac Co, Ballard Memorial and even parts of North Graves co lining up to enroll there, too. Would be a great match.. Newest school, best facilities, deep pockets with the best, most proven coach in the area.. Within 2-3 years, he'd be dominating West Ky. teams and likely scheduling a lot of out of state competition..

There is no way he would be allowed to make 70k by the ktrs. That's too high of a percentage. There are laws about this. That's why double dipping can only truly be maxed out in a different state.

Well, I was a former Superintendent in Kentucky and so was my wife. She had three employees who drew their KTRS pension and then drew a full classified salary. All were district employees that still make 90K as classified employees and two make that much in pension. So both of them are bringing home 180 K

 

As I stated, certified and classified are in two different retirement systems.

 

Now I work part time in a district as a certified employee and my salary is capped. I pay into a 2nd pension through KTRS on the capped salary. Don't know where you are getting your information but they are telling you incorrectly. If you need help having someone navigate this PM me.

My current 2016-17 information is coming from my boss who is doing this right now. Classified employee, still capped.
