Not really a surprise. Dont get me wrong he's a great back but he's not one of the top 5 players in KY by any means and not on an all american level.

There are several D-1 college coaches that think otherwise. The question is not about his talent, it is that no one from our area is considered and they have been several players from the past that could play for any team in Kentucky. He at least deserves an invitation. IMO. He is also a great DB.

Sad, but true. This is a High School all-star game that wants to showcase the "who's who" among high school athletes for the entire nation. If a player is not at the top of scouting lists or isn't going to a major D-1 college (FSU, Ohio St., USC, etc.) then their chances in this game are slim to none.

It's not a knock against Clark or any other really good high school players, you just have to be the best of the best to get invited to this game. This game is more about college potential then what kind of stats you put up in high school. Think of how many D-1 recruits don't get invited to this game.

Can't get the link to come up for some reason.. Could someone list the KY. players invited.. Thanks

Its an honor to be nominated. One, two or maybe none might get invited. Its a big game and Kentucky is a sparsely populated state. Congrats to those kids, its get that they are getting noticed.

I wan not referring to stats. Russell's coach does not pad stats as Clark sits the second half of most games. If not his numbers would be untouchable. I feel that he is a top 5 RB in the state & also one of the better DB's around. No knock against Russell but if he played for a Trinity, X or Blubirds he would receive more recognition. The kids in our part of the state do not get the credit that is due to them. I understand your comments but Clark is being recruited by several top notch D-1 programs. It is unfortunate that he was not considered.

Which ones?

Five high school football players from Kentucky, including three from Louisville, are among 400 players who have been nominated to participate in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl in January.

St. Xavier's Victor Anderson, Male's Douglas Beaumont and Trinity's Nick Petrino join Bell County's Brent Slusher and Bowling Green's Stuart Hines on the list of nominees for the Jan. 7 game in San Antonio.

Is the Petrino kid all american level?

IMHO, no. But not my call.

Congrats to all 5 nominees! What an honor.

I agree cville, Clark is a very good talent and imo he is overlooked by most of the state as well. Is Clark a top 5 back in the nation, I don't think so but a top 5 back in KY. he certainly is plus as you said he is as good of a d-back imo as he is a running back. The kid can flat out play football.

I do not doubt Clark is a very good High School football player. And I don't doubt there are a few D-1 schools looking at him. But if you look at any of the main recruiting web sites none of them have him on their lists as a top Kentucky recruit at any position. Which tells me that he is not a legit high level D-1 player and you have to be to get a nomination to play in this game.

Is the Petrino kid all american level?

He's good but I believe that the politics game helped him a little, it not like he had several schools after him like the kid from Male and X. But good for him

Another thought, I guess people don't think about kickers and punters in the state of kentucky:flame:
