If guys as acomplished as Justin Burke or Todd from E-Town did not play in the game, I don't see Petrino playing. It is very hard to see any, even Anderson playing. You must be incredibly accomplished by the end of your junior year, and that acomplishment must reach farther than the boundaries of the State of Kentucky.

Not really a surprise. Dont get me wrong he's a great back but he's not one of the top 5 players in KY by any means and not on an all american level.

 

 

You're crazy. I don't know what it is that you have against Kasey. You always say negative things about him. Did he stiff arm your son on his way to a TD or did he just flat out run him over? He must have done something to you or your son in order for you to bash him like you do. If you truly believe what you said above then that's your opinion but most people, including college scouts, disagree with you. You've probably seen him play once or twice when Russell plays Ashland. And alot of people feel he's one of the top 5 in KY. Being mentioned as a Mr. Football candidate reiterates that most people do.

Sad, but true. This is a High School all-star game that wants to showcase the "who's who" among high school athletes for the entire nation. If a player is not at the top of scouting lists or isn't going to a major D-1 college (FSU, Ohio St., USC, etc.) then their chances in this game are slim to none.

 

It's not a knock against Clark or any other really good high school players, you just have to be the best of the best to get invited to this game. This game is more about college potential then what kind of stats you put up in high school. Think of how many D-1 recruits don't get invited to this game.

 

 

I don't think many of these kids will be going to the ELITE D-1 schools you mentioned. The Slusher kid is going to Auburn and that's great but I doubt if many, if any, go to those schools.

I do not doubt Clark is a very good High School football player. And I don't doubt there are a few D-1 schools looking at him. But if you look at any of the main recruiting web sites none of them have him on their lists as a top Kentucky recruit at any position. Which tells me that he is not a legit high level D-1 player and you have to be to get a nomination to play in this game.

 

 

It should only tell you that he doesn't play at a big HS in Lex or Louisville. If Kasey was at one of these schools he would be right there in the mix of all the names. Put Kasey at St. X or Trinity and let him run behind those O-lines and let him play the whole game. His stats would be through the roof. PERIOD!!!! You may not think that means much but it does. Those backs run behind lineman who go on to play college ball. Now, bring one of those top backs your thinking of and bring him to Russell and run behind an eastern KY line and then play only 2 quarters of the game. Kasey only plays 2 quarters a game until he reaches the playoffs and you saw what he did last year in the playoffs. Well, maybe you didn't because if you did I don't think you'd be doubting him at all. Kasey is hindered because of where he plays and who he plays for. If you don't live in Lex or Louisville, you don't get much recognition. That's a fact.... And he plays for a coach who doesn't pad stats and a coach who has class and will not run up a score just to see a kid reach 200yds a game. He just won't do it. I'm really glad a few D-1 big-conference schools have been able to find Kasey and I think a few more will as time goes on. Kasey Clark is legit, he as good if not better than any back in the state. PERIOD Those of you who doubt him don't get to see him play every week. You don't see what he does week in and week out.

I don't know anything about Clark, however these recruiting web sites can only rank or "star" them if and only if the player goes to these "combines."

 

Therefore a player could be very good and getting a lot of D1 attention but if the player did not go to these "combines" then they are not listed on these "main recruiting web sites"

 

These web sites are a good base, but nothing more than that. All depends if a player goes to the combine. :walk:

Several Big-Conference(Big East,Big Ten,SEC) schools are recruiting Kasey.

The All star game is a BIG STAGE, and to be invited, most often your team has to have played great competition on a BIG STAGE and the player has had to be sucessful agianst those teams. Just the way it is, players from Louisville, Lex. and NKY play on the bigger stage more often than the rest of the state; just the way it is.

Jerry Rice graduated high school in 1980. Website left everybody off then. I would say a good deal of great talent feel through the cracks back then. They didn't have the tools available today.

 

Ben Rothlesberger was a 3 star recruit that went to a mid major D-1 school. Where should he have gone? He worked hard and improved his stock while in college.

 

Ladainian Tomlinson's size in high school hurt his recruitment. He developed size and refined his skill in college. But again, I wouldn't say TCU is a national power but they also aren't Murray State.

 

Brian Urlacher just wasn't heavily recruited out of high school but he still went D1.

 

Terrell Owens wasn't that good in high school. He developed while in college.

 

For every example you can come up with of kids that get missed I can give you 3 dozen that don't. But sometimes kids do get missed or develop late.
