Look, I know nothing about Johnson Central. They do seem to have their best team in a long time anyways. But Bell is perenially good and having knowledge of my team I can comment with some knowledge on them, unlike JC.

As much as I love JC, I think Bell probably has the edge right now in the region. Then I think JC and Rock.

As for this thread I think Highlands will be the team to beat this year.

That's a pretty awesome avatar.

Considering that CovCath and Highlands are in the LexCath region, your statement may have some validity. However, the LexCath defense was much better against Scott County and actually snuffed them out pretty well in the second half when the game was on the line. Revere, Guy, and Lockname could start for anybody I suspect.

I think its hard to brag on a defense when they give up 36 points. Now if Scott County's defense was able to score off turnovers then thats a little different. But for a defense to give up 36 points is not a good thing. Highlands played St X very tough Saturday and wont give up 30 points against just about anyone.

Highlands looked solid, against a good St. X team.

Bluebirds, lock, stock and both barrels. :thumb:

Highlands is very good, but giving up 35 is not lock, stock, and both barrels IMO.

To St. X? Umm, yes...without question.

If that is the case, then what about a BG team that only gave up 15 and played without their starting QB and allstate RB? How would Highland have faired had they played the St X game without Kramer and Cecil? I know it's hypothetical, but...........

I think Bowling Green deserves to be ranked #1 in "AAA", but I think Highlands is ultimately going to prove that they are the best team in the State in this class when all is said and done.

But the QB and RB have no effect on defense.

Didn't someone post in another thread that ST X was also not at full strength? Is that true?

As to this thread I don't see how you can leave CCh out of the equation.

"But the QB and RB have no effect on defense."

They have a tremendous effect on the defense, without them the offense sputters and the defense has to play many more plays than usual. The defense gets tired. How many times have you heard it espressed that the offense being three and out is really hard on the defense?

When the average start to Scott Co.'s scoring drives were at the Lex Cath 30 yard line, the 36 points arent too bad. Scott. Co did very well on special teams(except for allowing a 99 yard KO return). Lex Cath couldn't punt.

You can look at that two ways -- A good offense scores quickly and the defense is right back out there. So it balances out.
