I went with BG, but there are so many good teams in 3A every year, it's tough to pick just one.

I think there are almost 10 teams that on a given night could win a one game match. Overall I think Highlands is the team to beat though.

might be better than HHS and BGHS,

Not without Buckley.

He's good but they have so many athletes that IMO he is replaceable. Although fatigue may become a factor.

Right now H. H. S. has my vote but I would like to have a subject to change as the year progresses. Go Rebs..;)

There is only two teams that should be on the poll. HHS and CovCath. It's a shame they can't meet each other for the state championship every year.

If you even start to mention Bell, then you must mention Johnson Central also. The Varsity has had two defensive shutouts that were later spoiled by the JV. Not to mention they are one of the few teams still standing undefeated. They don't have the toughest schedule in the state, but definately dont have the weakest, playing South Point OH and Bryan Station

Look, I know nothing about Johnson Central. They do seem to have their best team in a long time anyways. But Bell is perenially good and having knowledge of my team I can comment with some knowledge on them, unlike JC.

Has to be Ashland , they beat Red Army , Devils and Portsmouth West ... ( couldn't pass this up )

Seriously ... Highlands ... without a doubt , head and shoulders above 3A type play I have seen so far this year including Ironton Ohio ...

Ashland is improving and I will be rooting for them come playoff time ...

You do realize that Russel and Belfry are both 2A teams right? You've got to be kidding me if you think they are the best. Not taking anything from those two teams, but Ashland is a 3A team, and when you can barely beat a 2A team, I dont consider you one of the elite in 3A then. Not to mention that Raceland beat them, and they are 1A if I am thinking straight... How many non-district games does Ashland have that are against teams in 2A or under? Thats three right there, and they play P-burg Friday, so that makes 4.

I wish that were true, but 3A is too loaded. Bowling Green and LexCath are perennial powers that also need to be included.

Because that was true last year (Lex. Cath knocked H and CovCath out back to back last year)...

You're really selling BG short this year with a statement like that. I have a feeling they're the best in 3A this year. They're going to be a tough team to beat once they get healthy.

I will have to go with the Purples.....Like some of you have already said, you can not overlook them. They have not played with all of their players and have had many injuries and still are winning games. The only game they did lose was to St X and they held thier own. Had they had all the players well and playing, I really think they would have won that one as well.

I usually gauge the best team by whoever is the defending state champ. But by what i've seen the last couple of weeks from Highlands against the Big Boys, 3a is in trouble and that includes The Team From Park Hills:D

What about Bell County!?! Seriously Bell could be very good by the end of the year! I really like the team's potential.

I would say right now Highlands is probably the best team. I think LexCath is overrated and doesnt have a good enough defense to get out of their 3A region.

Considering that CovCath and Highlands are in the LexCath region, your statement may have some validity. However, the LexCath defense was much better against Scott County and actually snuffed them out pretty well in the second half when the game was on the line. Revere, Guy, and Lockname could start for anybody I suspect.
