December 4, 20169 yr Most likely Alabama, Ohio State, Clemson, and Washington will be the one step in it however IMO I would put Penn State in over Washington due to the Huskies terrible non-conference schedule and very few wins over "good" teams relative to PSU.

December 4, 20169 yr Conference Champs: Alabama (0 losses), Clemson (1 loss), Washington (1 loss), Penn State (2 losses), Oklahoma (2 losses).........Eastern Michigan (0 losses). Big Show will include Bama and Clemson for sure and most likely OSU. The other team will come from ( Washington, Penn State, Michigan) coin flip (Friday night lights style only in Texas)

Everyone says the Big12 needs to have a conference championship game for playoff purposes. But why should they, if it means nothing to win the conference? I'm not cut and dry about it what I just said above, but I think that Penn State winning the conference means something. So if they win the conference, as well they beat OSU head to head, in what logical way would OSU be deemed the better team?

If FL or VT had won tonight they weren't getting a bid with a "conference championship." It's based on a full season in football.

Some teams are great at the beginning of the year, some are not. Then again, some teams are great at the end of the season, which is why I think there should be some emphasis on the conference championships. Otherwise, just get rid of them all together and add more teams to the playoff.
December 4, 20169 yr Ohio State played top teams but they also played more low ranked teams than Washington. People keep hammering the bottom of Washington's schedule but Ohio St. played three teams with a power ranking lower than 100 (Bowling Green, Rutgers and Mich. St.). The bottom of the Ohio St. schedule is the worst of the top 4. And Ohio St. almost got beat by one of those low ranked teams. I really was surprised that Mich. St. performance did not hurt Ohio St. in the rankings. Washington only played two teams ranked lower than 100 (Rutgers, Portland St.). Rutgers is a Big 10 team! All the Big Ten teams get kudos for beating them but Washington doesn't? So the only bad team on Washington's schedule is Portland St. Penn St. played four teams ranked lower than 100. The only team that in theory should be worried about losing their spot to Penn St. is Ohio St. Ohio St. is getting major points for their record versus the top 10. However, if we look at records versus the top 30, both Washington and Clemson are better than Ohio St. and Michigan. Records versus top 30: Clemson ................ 4-1 Washington ............ 4-1 Ohio St. ................. 3-1 Penn St. ................. 4-2 Michigan ................ 3-2 Who is the best conference? Everyone automatically says Big 10. Wrong. Did you know that the toughest conference this year is the ACC? The Big 10 has the #4 strength of schedule. Conference Strength of Schedule: 1. SEC 2. ACC 3. PAC12 4. Big 10 That is going by the RPI power rankings. Their strength of schedule is better than Ohio St. (#10 vs. #12). They only played 1 team below 100 in RPI. Every other top team played at least 2. Their only loss is to a team that also beat Penn St. (PITT). How could you put Penn St. in over Clemson? I think it is a very easy decision. Because OSU was ranked higher pre season which has came down to the difference in them getting in and not PSU
