Leaving Penn State out is an easy call for me. This is football, not basketball; not being at full go for the first month of the season means you don't get to play for a title.

 

Give me Bama v. Washington and Ohio State v. Clemson.

I don't know what was going on with Penn State the day they lost to Michigan by such a score but I would safely say that Michigan would not beat them like that right now. It would be a heck of a game.

 

Didn't Ohio State beat Michigan State by 1 point and a few weeks later Penn State beat the same Michigan State team by about 30. Plus, Ohio State barely squeaked past Wisconsin by a touchdown, which is the same margin of victory for Penn State over the Badgers last night.

And Penn State beat Ohio State head to head.

Penn State deserves more consideration than some on here are giving them.

The college football playoff system starts with game one of the year. If you lose two games, you are almost surely out. The teams with two or more losses played their way out of the playoffs. It is that easy of a decision IMO.

Conference championships are something the Committee has to address in the future. Basically the Big 12 not having one and then teams that will likely be in the playoff not qualifying for one.

 

If Clemson had lost last night they would likely have been out of the playoff. If Washington had lost they would have been out of the playoff. And the teams that beat them probably would not get in the playoff. Dangerous territory.

It's about the 4 best teams. Conference championships don't matter. If Florida would have beat Bama somehow, nobody would be arguing about Bama because they are one of the 4 best teams.

If OSU is in it proves the the NCAS is just like pro sports. Rigged for the money, nothing more.

With the criteria that the new playoff committee uses to determine who will be in the playoffs, there's really no need for conference tournaments anymore. Might as well do away with them. I don't think the Big 12 will vote for one now. Why should they? Some teams can sit back and safely assume they're already in the playoff without being in a conference championship game (Ohio State), and with no risk of taking an L in that game to cost them a playoff berth, while others have to bust their chops (Clemson, Washington) in a conference title game, where a loss means you're definitely out.

That's not good.

Its rigged if OSU gets in over a team that has 2 losses, an OOC schedule of Temple and Pitt, and lost to Michigan by 39 points. Sorry that doesn't scream "rigged" to me. Hell, Michigan should still be in front of Penn State in my eyes. Don't spread your rigged talk, it ruins your credibility.
