December 4, 20169 yr I keep thinking they really should just call this the .... 'CFNIT'. That is what is basically is. Not very unlike the NIT of basketball in the 40s or 50s when it was the prestigious post season college basketball tournament over the NCAA tournament. Your basically 'invited' or your not. And those that control the inviting will rationalize whatever they come up with. Sounds like Alabama, Ohio St. and Clemson are in. Its a toss up for Washington and Penn State. Somewhat ironic is that Conference Championship game, or lack of, was a big deal a couple of years ago and this year....not so much. Seems that whatever narrative fits. Be careful. Hopefully the Cats hoops fans are not sneaking over here to read this. Since 4 of their 8 NCAA championships are in that era, they may derail this thread!!!
December 4, 20169 yr Its rigged if OSU gets in over a team that has 2 losses, an OOC schedule of Temple and Pitt, and lost to Michigan by 39 points. Sorry that doesn't scream "rigged" to me. Hell, Michigan should still be in front of Penn State in my eyes. Don't spread your rigged talk, it ruins your credibility. So a team the cant make its conference championship game should be in the national championship? Because that makes sense. Or should I say cents.
December 4, 20169 yr So a team the cant make its conference championship game should be in the national championship? Because that makes sense. Or should I say cents. Who said conference champs matter? Certainly not the committee.
December 4, 20169 yr I don't know what was going on with Penn State the day they lost to Michigan by such a score but I would safely say that Michigan would not beat them like that right now. It would be a heck of a game. Didn't Ohio State beat Michigan State by 1 point and a few weeks later Penn State beat the same Michigan State team by about 30. Plus, Ohio State barely squeaked past Wisconsin by a touchdown, which is the same margin of victory for Penn State over the Badgers last night. And Penn State beat Ohio State head to head. Penn State deserves more consideration than some on here are giving them. I'm OK with Penn State in over Washington.
December 4, 20169 yr I'm OK with Penn State in over Washington. Exactly I can't understand the argument of Penn State over Ohio State, but Penn State over Washington is the real question. But you know if 2 Big 10 teams got in it's rigged, but if 2 SEC teams got in it would be fair because they are so much better than everyone.... haha
December 4, 20169 yr 1. Bama 2. Clemson 3. OSU 4. Washington 5. Penn State 6. Michigan Join BGP now for pennies a day!
December 4, 20169 yr Who said conference champs matter? Certainly not the committee. Why even have conference championships then?
December 4, 20169 yr Why even have conference championships then? It's one piece of the puzzle but it's not basketball, not an auto birth.
December 4, 20169 yr My answer is have a 16 team playoff. Have 10 automatic births from conference champs and 6 wildcards . Lets go.
