South's rise is a mirror of what we saw out of Collins FWIW.

I am not sure what to expect

 

South's Defense clearly isn't the same caliber of what it has been, but Hoptown's Offense hasn't exactly been tested much. The one time they saw a quality Defense was Christian County who held them to 16 points.

 

I wouldnt be surprised with a shootout, I wouldn't be surprised with a tight low scoring game. What I will do though is ride with the defending Champions... do not think they repeat but don't think they go away quietly just yet. Let's split the middle, call it close...

Wish I could be at this game and about 3 others in the state. Gonna be some good ones this weekend! Central vs Boyle, Bardstown vs Lex Cath, Etown vs PT.

The Calpreps projection has it Hopkinsville 31 South Warren 21.

 

Last year the projections were 41-7 in the second round. Since the move to the six class system, the least Calpreps has missed in the second round is 5, the most 12. Commonly, it is about 7-8. So all that to say they don't miss much, but they do miss some.

That said, each of those three games had predictions of 5 point margins or less by the favored team. In fact, the 9 point predicted margin of Boyle County over Central (Central won 27-14) was the only one that Calpreps missed where a margin of greater than 5 was predicted. The point being that each were borderline games that clearly could've gone either way.

I may be totally wrong on SW and Hoptown but I've watched a lot of SW's games and they have have a significant number of starters missing games.

To me it really is a question of whether South can put enough pressure on the QB to stop Johnson from picking their secondary apart. I know that we've had citations of changes in the secondary personnel, as well as the expected addition of Ford in his first action in a year, I just wonder exactly what impact they'll have. Madisonville threw for 333 yards against them last week. That was a 27-12 game midway through the third quarter before South hit the afterburners to gain the running clock. I just can't shake this deep doubt that South can stop a Tiger aerial attack that has run up 29 passing TDs. The real x-factor may ultimately come on the other side of the ball. The Tigers have the #1 defense in 4A, but have been somewhat untested. South is mostly healthy on that side of the ball (didn't have Namvong last week), and that's really what I want to see - how the Spartan offense does.

I don't think SW can stop Hoptown's offense, but I don't know if Hoptown can stop SW, either. I'm guessing that they will make a couple more stops than SW makes. Hopkinsville 48-35

I don't know the extent of souths injuries, but I do know their QB has had injury problems throughout the year.

 

Theatrically, let's say a team has a starting qb, rb, lb, cb, etc. out for a extended period of time. How is that considered an excuse? Clearly you are at your best when your best players are on the field right? I'm used to keeping up with Russellville and if ONE of their key players are out, they are clearly a different team. Yes I know the difference between 1a and 4a but it relates. No excuses, Mac is right, the computers do not know. Regardless I think hop town is better then what people give them credit for. Look at their game vs county and look at the total offensive yards. Big difference and they still lose. That does not happen often when there is that big difference. Don't remember the exact numbers, but it was pretty lopsided for hop town. I would guarantee turnovers made the difference, not sure tho exactly how it played out.

 

Defensively they have played well all season as well, they have a former Russellville coordinator and he has done a fantastic job!

Looking at the 4th quarter of CC I say that is how this game goes .SW O LINE is alot different since FS game alot bigger and more athletic i look for SW to be run heavy out of multiple sets but get 1-1 on recievers and they know have 4 that will be hard to match up with and oh yes they are HEALTHY first time this season .Defensive will have new look also a new scheme.This could be very interesting .I give winner the mod to be in BG in December.
