Cards at 7 is ridiculous. But I agree with Clyde, this stuff always works itself out.

The committee threw a major curve ball...Texas A&M gets into the top 4:

Based on their logic, Michigan could be flipped out of the rankings too. They both have 1 good win and a bunch of crappy schools. What is the difference?

Michigan has more than one good win.

Michigan has more than one good win.

Besides Wisconsin, who? Until Penn state beat OSU no one viewed that as a good win. Which after a few more game I bet we see PSU back out of the top 25.

Wisconsin is the only win that stands out.

Penn State, Colorado and Wisconsin are all quality top 25 wins.

I'm not going to debate Michigan being up there because they deserve to be (man that was hard to say), but I don't think they are any more or less impressive than Washington.

If Washington loses to anyone, they are out. I really believe some still have it out for Peterson, has to feel familiar to him from some of the Boise years. I still think that Louisville is the best team with a loss; A LOT will have to go their way to make it, which I already thought.

I think if Washington wins out they will get in ahead of Texas A&M. It especially helps them that they will get an extra game at the end of the season when they play their conference championship which will also give them a boost. It will play out just fine IMO.

The chairman of the committee was asked today by ESPN how 1 loss A&M was top 4 and undefeated Washington not. He replied that it was due to A&M's strength of schedule being much better than Washington's. The Huskies have only beaten 2 teams who are above .500.

If I'm looking at that right, teams that control their own destiny are:

Alabama

Michigan

Clemson

Washington

Ohio State

Nebraska

Everyone else in the top 10 needs help.

10 of the top 13 are SEC and BIG 10 (or whatever they are called now). It is all so incestuous. Any team in the SEC or BIG 10 that beats another team in conference gets credit for a great win. Lose to one of those teams and it doesn't hurt as much because they are soooo good. And that is the strength of schedule argument.

Texas A&M's best out of conference win is a 31-24 victory over UCLA, who is 3-5. Last week A&M beat 2-6 New Mexico St.

Who outside of the top 13 do you feel deserves to be ahead of those teams?

Committee on their knees for Big 10.

Louisville at 7 is a complete joke.

Gotta keep tOSU relevant.

I think the love for the B1G is pretty well deserved. Who are you going to put ahead of those teams? I think the biggest thing that came from the committee is that they don't value margin of victory (or defeat) hence why UofL is so low and A&M is so high despite getting steamrolled by almost 3 TD's.

Who outside of the top 13 do you feel deserves to be ahead of those teams?

You may be right. I have not analyzed it deeply. However, I look at the teams ranked 14-21 and wonder if any of them are better than some of the 2 loss SEC/B1G teams ahead of them. I think A&M is too high at #4. I would have them at 7 or 8. Some of those top 13 teams look to me like they are riding the incestuous conference bias and should be lower.
