I can't complain too much about this. As far as A&M goes, while the UCLA and Tennessee wins have lost some of their luster, the win at Auburn looks better by the day.

 

We'll see what the committee does in the coming weeks, but let's be honest about Louisville: they only have one really solid win and that solid win is against a team that now has three losses.

 

We knew going in that the Cards needed help and we still know it.

 

I'll say exactly as I said weeks ago: I thought before the season started that Louisville would go 9-3 and that 10-2 was a reasonable season. 11-1 and an Orange Bowl bid looks like a real possibility with most of the offense coming back next season and some exciting young talent on defense. I'm excited about that. I'd love for Louisville to have a chance to stick it to Wisconsin or some school like that in South Florida to start 2017.

You may be right. I have not analyzed it deeply. However, I look at the teams ranked 14-21 and wonder if any of them are better than some of the 2 loss SEC/B1G teams ahead of them. I think A&M is too high at #4. I would have them at 7 or 8. Some of those top 13 teams look to me like they are riding the incestuous conference bias and should be lower.

 

I don't concern myself too much with A&M at #4 because if Washington wins out, they're going to jump them regardless of what A&M does.

At this point I think Louisville needs both A&M & Washington to drop a game to have a shot.

Each of the previous two seasons a team outside the top 10 in the initial rankings has made the playoff. LSU and Florida are the only two that really have a shot at that this season, right?

 

LSU has 3 top 11 teams left on the schedule, and the other game is @ Arkansas. If they win out, they'll deserve serious consideration IMO.

 

Florida has @LSU, @ Arkansas, @ Florida State and then the SEC West champ. They win out and they will make the playoff IMO.

AND UofL needs Mich to beat OSU. If OSU grabs the B1G Champ and Mich only loss is @ tOSU, UofL is behind both of them. Lots of ways to get there, but I think UofL's biggest obstacles for the 4th spot (assuming B1G Champ, SEC Champ and Clemson take the 1st 3 spots) are 1 loss non-champs in B1G and SEC and undefeated Washington. I never believed 1 loss Pac12 Champ would be ahead of UofL and that appears to be confirmed by 1st poll.

I want this scenario to play out just to see what happens...

I'd bet that Washington gets that spot in your scenario. Maybe I'm wrong about the way the committee is going to work, but the same reason I'm not bullish on Bama there is the same reason I'm not bullish on Louisville: I think the committee is going to favor all the playoff teams being conference champions if they can reasonably do so.

I think it's a snapshot of where things stand right now. A&M has a better resume than Washington at this point. Washington wins out and they'll add 2 top 25 wins (as of now), whereas A&M has only the game with LSU left to hang their hats on.

Technically I guess you could throw Penn State in there but they need some help from you all to lose at Iowa and that isn't happening.

They just look at what they have in front of them and reseed them every week. I understand the thinking behind that, but I still don't see how Washington is below A&M.

Based on that line of thinking I definitely see how A&M is above Washington. Their one loss is to the best team in the country. Switch Washington's best opponent to date with Alabama. A&M is probably undefeated and Washington has one loss.
