Quit using the words Pro Life to describe yourself

Featured Replies

Yeah you missed the point.

The article's author is using a game of semantics. He's saying folks shouldn't be able to call themselves "pro-life" because they aren't "pro-life" unless they espouse the laundry list of other things that he uses to define "life" - or at least what he thinks makes a quality life. He is making an assumption about what the meaning of the word "life" is within that term.

My point is that he doesn't know what so-called pro-lifers are defining as "life", or even why they call themselves that. I was trying to clarify that.

His whole argument is kind of like saying, "I don't think teamster union members should call themselves teamsters, because if they're really working as part of a 'team' then they wouldn't go on strike and bring work to a screeching halt." ....in reality the name "teamster" has absolutely nothing to do with being part of a team...but that statement is making the assumption that it does.

I kinda get that but I think this article is aiming at people who are voting for Trump only because he claims to be pro life. Do you fall in that category? If not then he isn't talking to you.

No...I'm not voting for Trump. I'm honestly tending towards Evan McMullin at this point.

However, I am 1-White, 2-Conservative (leaning slightly moderate), and 3-Christian. If this cat isn't talking to me, then he needs to come up with a different title for his self-promoting, "look how great of a person I am and how terrible all of you white Christian conservatives are" article.

I don't see how Tim Kaine is a Catholic and is pro-murder, pro-abortion, pro-choice whatever you want to call it.

What's more important? Following your faith or becoming Vice-President of the United States?

Once Trump became the nominee, I decided I would vote for Clinton because keeping Trump out of the White House became my overarching goal. If they'd nominated someone else, I'd strongly have considered campaigning for these guys:

American Solidarity Party

IMO he isn't a Catholic, for sure not a Catholic in a state of grace. Which means he cannot receive sacraments. I am not a student of theology so I will stop here.

I have no issue with being called anti-abortion.

I would rather be anti-abortion than pro-murder.

I think it is evident who he is talking to in the article.

What is he claiming to be?

Interesting article to read, but the author makes some pretty big assumptions. Though he makes some good points, he makes blanket statements about all pro life people, which is very bad. No doubt there are some who fit into his description, or at least some of his observations, but no way he can judge all pro life people like that. It simply is not true.

Pro life is just easier to say and garners less negative feedback than "anti late term abortion, pro death penalty"

It amazes me that if you feel a baby being killed before it is born is a vile and disgusting thing, that you are branded by many in this country just like this author does. The article's first sentence is so funny...saying that so many are only voting for Trump because he is pro-life. Are that many people voting for him for that reason? Me thinks not...
