You name me one team that does not double slip a 3 techniquestions to get to the LB! Even wing t teams double slip to the LB, and that is zone blocking.

Dale's team never did, period.

No, i'll have to bow out of this, its beyond me. I don't know what a techniquestion is.

Name them. And then tell me they don't double slip ever.....

I hope this double slip stuff(whatever that is) isn't whats causing them to give up 600 yards rushing.

Me neither....typo

3 technique

What was he criticizing?

Also, I will disagree that "probably 50% of the teams in KY do not use zone blocking" and unless you can bring some "facts" I don't think there is anything you can say to prove me wrong.

Can you prove that 50% or more teams do zone block? What or how are you defining zone blocking?

Now unless I have been lied to by former OL and others HHS old line scheme was the most free flowing blocking system. They did all kinds of stuff you see in other offenses. The OL had a lot of freedom and just sorted it out. It was simple and elegant but it's not magic.

Can someone explain what they are referring to as a double slip on a 3 tech? There is no universal terminology in football.

I find it interesting for years Highland fans have told everyone to work harder. Over and over that was the response to fans of other schools. Now some are saying talent is down and/or coaching is the reason things are the way they are. This was never an acceptable response by other schools. They were just told they weren't working hard enough.

I honestly have no dog in this fight and I hope the best for all programs.

I'm not going to respond to the rest of your post, mainly because I am in a hotel room in chicago and having a great time, but I will say that up until BW took over "double slip on a 3 tech" was never even remotely involved in the oline vocabulary. Having played football in college, in KY, I met with many former o lineman from various ky high schools, and each of them said they did zone blocking. Ever team we played while I was in high school ran zone blocking. Not sure who you have talked to, but literally 100 percent of the people I talked to said they ran zone. Highlands did not run zone blocking up until BW took over. No variations of zone were used. I can tell you that with 100 percent confidence.

Never said they used zone. They sure used some zone techniques and that is coming from a center and guard that played at Highlands. Highlands used a count system similar to what Smith Center in KS used and their (Smith Center) version came from Al Black's book Modern Belly T Offense. The unique thing about the Highlands system was there really wasn't rules past 0,1,2,3 but no real rule on how to define them.

As far as teams zone blocking as a player we didn't zone block. We don't a number of teams I've worked with during offseason don't zone block. There are a number of teams that man block or gap scheme only. Of course is also comes down to how you define zone. Flexbone teams have what they call zone dive but that is very different than Trinity running inside zone and theirs is different than Male's NZone version of zone. Some wouldn't consider the flexbone zone dive zone. No universal terminology in football.

It's temporary alright...

Said that last year too.

It has nothing to do with blocking. They need a defense.

They have 26 championships. Tremendous organization. Would about them?

Wonder if Dale saw the writing on the wall that the talent was drying up and got out while the getting was good?

Dale's not that kind of a guy... simply put, he was ready to retire.

Weinrich might have been coaching under dale for 19 year but remember he is a New head coach. Dale is a legend. Give him a few years to find his way and we will see if he is head coach material. I think it is a combination of lesser talent and weinrich getting his feet wet as head coach.

Agree it takes some time but unfortunately the natives get extremely restless in Ft Thomas.

I think we are talking about two different things...

This sounds absurd to me, sorry.

You don't work on your head coaching experience at Highlands and get your feet while doing so...you do that at other schools and build a resume and then you become a head coach at Highlands...I am not saying BW is not qualified to be a head coach, he just does not have the experience of a head coach to lead a program like Highlands, jmo
