You have been around the Highlands football scene for many yrs and have seen some pretty good ones. The numbers appear to be facts but I have seen them all up close and some personal and I only cringe of the thought of matching this team up against some of those monster teams and that ain't sugarcoating

 

Remember though as a smiling wise man once said when asked by a reporter each year if this is Highlands greatest team ever...

This team still has an opportunity to be the next building block win or lose and hopefully this strongest schedule ever helps them win the only games that matter moving forward...

The Birds season thus far has been a disappointment no doubt...BUT...if they can somehow-someway figure out how to win Friday it would help them immensely going forward. If they lose badly to Cov Cath...IT'S GONNA BE UGLY IN THE FORT.

I disagree. I think Highlands fans understand Cov. Cath. is a solid team this year, which cannot be said for the birds. No one should be surprised if this one ends up fairly lopsided.

I personally see Highlands having the best game yet. Don't count these little birdies out. They will prove you all wrong. Just watch Friday can't come fast enough.

This game is always a bloodbath. JV games it was always a fight on the field. So entertaining to watch I just can't wait

Did the Ft. Thomas district change their policy on enrolling non-residents a couple of years ago? This would be the simplest explanation.

I am not accusing HHS of any previous wrong doing as every school district in the Commonwealth has different rules regarding non-residents. Even Eminence has students from 7 counties. A kid from Oldham County may pay tuition to attend Ballard, as long as Ballard is not full. It's all good. (I personally believe a child should be eligible to attend any school and provide their own transportation). Highlands has maintained their enrollment very consistently for the past thirty years, at least.

 

This is a serious question from someone who drove up to witness Male take on Highlands many years ago. I also saw Coach Beatty lose his first game at Trinity to Highlands in Mount Sterling, KY. I watched every scrimmage HHS and THS played and enjoyed watching this year's Trinity freshmen squad play in Ft. Thomas. The only positive I see from this poor start for HHS is the opportunity for Trinity to get #24 and take a lead in overall number of championships since 1959.

I think HHS should count the titles earned with Dr. Litkenhous' formula prior to 1959. I always give St. Xavier credit for their titles earned in 1956 and 1957.

The answer is NO they did not change their non-resident policy. My understanding is that each class has a limit on number of students. If they are at that limit, then they won't take any tuition(non-resident) students. If they are not at that limit, then they can accept tuition students.

 

I'm sure there's someone closer to the school that can explain it better. @RCC99

 

As has been stated many times over the last 10 years, there's only been about 3-4 tuition students on the team at one time. Some were studs and some were not. It's not like the tuition student athletes are the reason Highlands has won a bunch of titles. Helps, but not the main reason.

I can't recall all of St. X's schedule but Trinity strength-of-schedule got dragged down by Jeffersontown and maybe someone else. Highlands has not played any weak teams yet and that's why their SOS is so high. The Highlands SOS will drop when they play Grant County but it is going to go even higher this week after playing Cov Cath.

By the end of regular season yes ST X will have a better schedule. As of right now it's about even for real. Trinity yes I think has better. But whats with the acting like Highlands schedule isn't as tough as St X's?
