Russell vs Ashland moved to Saturday night

Featured Replies

Easy fellas....I hate this decision as much as anyone. Postponing the game 24 hours gives us very little time to dry out. If its going to be moved to a different day, Sunday would make more sense than Saturday (given the forecast).

I still vote for Friday night, but....the powers that be didnt ask for my input.

Is it really that bad in the Ashland area???, by the looks of the radar it is about to stop?

No, it's not...it has been a constant light rain here for the last day or so, but nothing that should have precipitated the postponement of this game.

Nor did they ask for mine...obviously, they are not using the considerable resources available to them in making these important decisions...:D

I don't see that playing tomorrow will make much difference since the weather channel has us scheduled for relatively low temps and overcast or raining all the way until noon tomorrow with scattered showers after that.

I really don't get it. Why aren't all the other games in the area being cancelled? This makes no sense or maybe it makes cent$.

There has been a steady rain since yesterday afternoon. Make no mistake, it is very wet. But this is football and I have seen games played in worse conditions than this.

I've stood on the sidelines many times in worse than what we have seen here the last day or so.

Maybe they should.:thumb:

I think it will look pretty funny if all the other games in the area are a 'go' and then here is Ashland, who won't let a game happen on thier 'wet' field.

With the holiday weekend, I'd say there are MANY fans that have other plans for their Saturday night that didn't involve high school football. Many going out of town or having family get togethers and what not. I don't see these folks changing things up for a football game. Might be a smaller crowd tomorrow night than if they had just proceeded as planned.

Hey GIAT show us the weather forecast for tonight and up till 10 tomorrow like you did in the other thread.

Was this a decision made by Ashland or was this an agreement between the two schools?

This was totally Ashland's decision...No agreement was made...Russell was contacted afterward...I believe the officials were even contacted before Russell was...

Mayve if they were true fans they would change their plans. :D

The forecast just on calls for the rain to start letting up late this evening and the chance is reduced for tomorrow.

I can see that it probably would backfire I'd say the teams aren't happy at all after getting up for a game like this and then being let down. If Ashland doesnt like playing in the mud then let them get some turf or quit worrying about thier so called"holy grail" and play some football.. I think it is ridiculous that they would do this.

How is it that as you say, "They" did this. Doesn't both schools have to agree on the decision to play or move the game to another date, also does the KHSAA have to ok it ?

We may have to close down the football forum. I'm afraid it's going to flood from all the crying I'm seeing on here. My goodness what's the big deal about the game being moved to tomorrow? Does this give Ashland an advantage?  I just checked the WSAZ weather forecast for the next two nights, and this is what it has.

Friday night

Rainy skies with gusty breezes today and tonight. High 70. Low 60.

Saturday Night

Saturday, clouds thin for some sun. Still a few showers around. High 75.

So, yes the forecast does look better for tomorrow night. It looks like there were be some sun tomorrow which will probably allow for the field crew to remove a lot of the standing water that may be on the field, and maybe even help dry it out some.
