Russell vs Ashland moved to Saturday night

Featured Replies

I disagree. I think it was moved so the field isn't destroyed for the rest of the season. Like Kick stated, Ashland still has the rest of the season to play on the field. Moving the game tomorrow night will help in keeping the field in better shape IMO.

Your points may be valid and true. However, I GUARANTEE you that the condition of the field played 1% of the decision and $$$$$ played 99%.

Are you a mind reader, or did Mark Swift call and tell you his thought process?

Your guarantee sure makes me feel better. :D

I don't understand why the Russell fans are crying. This game does not mean as much to you all as the Boyd County game, and it gives you another excuse in case of getting beat.

We did it for your own safety, you all walk around with your noses in the air it will keep you from drowning.

Nope. I've just been around long enough to know how it works. If field conditions were the reasons for rescheduling games, you'd see a lot more games rescheduled.

I just came back in out of this monsoon. Man is it bad out there.

Oddly enough the field at Henry R. Evans looks quite playable. No standing water and yes, it even has grass on it. All of this when a freshman game was played there last night in these extreme conditions. Amazing!

Maybe Russell could do the Tomcats a favor and allow them use that field. Oh wait, surely the crown jewell  (Putman Stadium) of the entire high school football stadium world can handle one game on a wet field. Maybe its just raining alot harder out there than I realized.

Or maybe the Kittycats would rather postpone the game until conditions are better for their own passing game. I guess desperate times call for desperate measures.

So let me get this straight then because I'm just a little confused now. If the weather isn't that bad tonight, and there isn't going to be much of a change in the forecast for tomorrow night like some people are saying, then how is money going to be different if the game is played tomorrow instead of tonight?

I think it more mental than field conditions or money!!! It seems like it might be working too? At least from a fans perspective!!!

Don't know about the fields but didn't someone say that Boyd County schools dismissed early?

How is it that as you say, "They" did this. Doesn't both schools have to agree on the decision to play or move the game to another date, also does the KHSAA have to ok it ?

They (Ashland) wanted it postponed. They (Russell) agreed to it, but they are not happy about. Yes the issue could be forced but it seems like one school really wants to play this game and the other is just looking for excuses.

I think we're all confused. That is the point of this thread. The forecast shows less rain tomorrow night. Less rain = more $$$$$ in the decision makers eyes.

Using your logic:

If the weather isn't that bad tonight, and there isn't going to be much of a change in the forecast for tomorrow night like some people are saying
then how will rescheduling the game help the condition of the field? Two days of rain saturation (tomorrow) vs. one day (tonight).

That's not my logic. If you go back and read thru the thread you will see that I posted that the forecast is better for tomorrow. There are some Russell fans though that think the weather will be the same tomorrow, but think Ashland moved the game for money reasons only. That is the logic I couldn't understand.

Ummm...if you have out of town plans or a family reunion, it's not like you can just change your plans. I don't, I'm just saying there may be very many who do.

Your family called they said go to the game.:sssh:

I stated that in one of my post, Boyd and Cabell in Wva dismissed early due to high water on some roads. WSAZ also reported that around 7 or 8 football games in the region have been postponed to either tommorrow night or Monday.

It's not about safety.

It's not about vacations.

It is about the almighty $$$$$$. This is their biggest gate, so they want to make sure the most people possible will attend, no matter what. Who cares about anything else.

Pathetic.

Im going to open a can of worms here, but Russell would have done the same thing. Unfortanatly money is all that matters. I like a lot of you want to see em play, but I wasnt notified when the decision was made. A little bit of anticipation never hurt anyone. Putnam has been muddy before, and will be muddy tomorrow, but hopefully the bleachers wont. As long as theres people there to watch the boys play in the mud, it wont matter how muddy Putnam is.

Money makes the world go round,

Yoter
