Best high school football/basketball player ever in Kentucky

Featured Replies

Who is the best high school football/basketball player ever to play in Kentucky high school? I have a starter list below as food for thought.

Derek Smith-Fort Thomas Highlands

Michael Bush-Male

Chris West-Manual

Jerome Perry-Manual

Roni Robinson-Frankfort

Tim Couch-Leslie County

Any others?

Couch, Smith and Bush.

Chris Lofton-Mason Co

Anthony Epps- Marion Co

Don Gullett - Mckell HS in Greenup Co. was a great one in his time in football and baseball, not sure about basketball.

Tim Couch hands down.

This may be a big time sleeper, and many of you may have never heard of this guy, but Keneal Jenkins from Madison Central the late 90's.

He was the best player on a 1998-99 team that featured future Wildcat Marquis Estill and at least 4 other players who went on to play college basketball. They were beat out by Scott County in the quarterfinals of the Sweet Sixteen that year.

As for football, Keneal only played his senior year and still amassed over 1000 yards recieving and was a leading reciever in the state in 98. Jenkins was invited to both the KY football and basketball allstars, but didn't play in either. I hate to say it but this guy turned out to be one of the biggest wastes of talent that I can remember.

As for the players mentioned, I think Derek Smith and Mike Bush are my top 2.

The Jenkins guy at Madison Central was really good, its a pitty about him not playing longer in college. I would have to say Tim Couch would be the most popular choice.

How about Shaun Alexander? Did you forget him. He has by far made more of an impact at the professional level than any of the others especially Tim Couch.

^ Shaun was a great football player, but I don't remember him as also being a great basketball player as well. I think Diogenes is looking for the best Football/Basketball combination.

My personal choice... Brian Brohm. His football talent is given, but he was a pretty solid player on Trinity's first sweet sixteen team. He was the emotional heart and soul of that team. His refuse to lose attitude carried a talented but young team. He wasn't too shabby in baseball either.

Thats easy Michael Bush-Louisville Male 03'.

He should have been Mr. Basketball and Mr. Football that year.

Another one who isn't the best but could be mentioned would be Jared Lorenzon at Highlands. John Ortega at Prestonsburg is another one as well. I not saying they were the best just throwing some names out there for this thread. I will try and remember some other one and will post them when they come to me.

Correct. Otherwise I would have mentioned Brian Brohm.
