Who do Bengals miss more? Tyler, Tez, Andre, Reggie, Hue?

Recommended Posts

So Bengals offense can't move the ball as well as last year and the defense can't stop the run and pass as well as last year........

Who is missed more?

Eifert makes defenses account for him at all times and you can't do it with a LB. Red zone he is impossible to handle.

Tez stops the run and you don't have to take him out on 3rd down. Puts the nasty in the defense.

Andre opened the holes for the RBs and did not give up sacks or pressures.

Reggie cleaned everything up in the secondary and covered up mistakes and was a ball hawk.

Hue had an offense that Andy seemed to thrive in and at least the Bengals were not boring.

So who is missed more?

First of all what Andre Smith are you talking about. His pass protection was not good and did get beat.

With that said I think people are over reacting. These first 2 weeks they played good defenses and will again next week. I tried to tell people this last year when people said if Dalton plays the steelers we win. Dalton doesn't ever do to great against the Steelers. The offense as a whole struggles against them. Hence why we usually are held to 20 or less against them. Even with Hue we struggled against them. Big arm qbs hurt the steelers more. Dalton is accurate but the deep intermediate route he struggles. So they know if they take away the long Ball and the short quick passes. Dalton struggles with progression and hitting the intermediate routes.

So no panic this was a normal Bengals steelers game. The Bengals will be better when these guys come back though.

The Bengals are 7-1 without Tez the last two years

Yesterday, they gave up over 100yds rushing. He makes a difference there. Maybe in the long run you're correct, but yesterday I think he makes the biggest difference in a sloppy weather game.

No doubt he is a factor in the run game. Three red zone opps and only field goals for the Bengals and two red zone TD's by the Steelers tight ends was the biggest difference.

Gotta get TD's in these slobber knocker games.

Tez. I don't think it's even that close

A strong case can be made for both. Yes the Bengals record has been good without him last year. However the offense was also one of the highest scoring teams and could out score people and make people abandon the run. On the flip side the Bengals defense as a whole is better with Tez and teams struggle to run when he is in. Plus the defense will be very nasty this year when you eventually team him with Dansby.

Without Tez you need a high scoring offense so teams have to pass. Without Eifert you need a better defense and run defense because you won't score as much and teams will stick with the run.

The two biggest players on offense they can't lose is Eifert and Green. They can win without Dalton, but especially if you take Green away they have no other top targets.
