Contend at the state level against Trinity or Male? I guess that depends on how one defines 'contend'.

The fact that everyone believes no one can compete with the Louisville schools is understandable. Now if Im a head coach up here I'm not going to coach my kids believing that we are starting out the season playing for 2nd place in the state. Things change and beating someone on any given night is possible. If you don't believe that then you need to watch Rocky or Hoosiers again. Part of sports is believing the dream!!

Especially when you have top talent enrolling in those schools just to be a part of the program. I'm sure all teams start with the goal of a State Championship in mind, but in reality they know the odds stack against them historically to actually win the 6A State Title.

My question is what the heck happened to Boone Co? I remember when it seemed they were good every year. Now they dropped off to the bottom.

 

I would say BC started not being BC when Ryle was built and then Cooper was added and I assume the redistricting affected BC a bit. Now I think BC is pretty much a Florence city school.

For Ryle to have a chance at winning the state championship, they're going to have to know Trinity and/or Male's offense and defense as good as Trinity and/or Male does. Then they're going to have to put together the perfect game plan and execute it. Even then, it's still going to be very hard for them to take down one of the giants.

 

Not turning this in to a Highlands thread, but I think there were times during the run that the game plan and execution won games more so than talent and depth.

No one will beat Trinity for NKY in the playoffs or the state game!

Can someone shed any light on why Ryle only beat Henry Clay by a TD?

 

I want to bestow upon them contender status, at least in their Semi-State, but that game is sticking out like a sore thumb after seeing Tates Creek put a 44-0 beating on Henry Clay.

Too many High Schools in each County

Lack of State Championships or playoff runs

JUCO type facilities

Staff longevity

 

Not sure, but I know the schools I mentioned, especially one, has a reputation across the states, not just Ky.
