I never inferred anything. Please show me where I said it doesn't happen. I gave you numbers and percentages and I said it doesn't happen at the frequency at which some like to believe it does. I never said they don't get any. I said that success was not sustained by them. And in this situation, we are talking about all kids, not just football players...which in itself makes it tougher for football players to get in because 1) there are only a few spots in each class and 2) There are academic qualifications that determine where you fall in line on the waiting list.

My whole discussion is based on it doesn't happen enough at other schools and HHS to make up the gap between NKY 6A schools and the Louisville and SC. They aren't gaining that big of an advantage that you can blame the gap between those schools on that.

Well it not happening and happening on a rarity is completely different. When some say it does happen on occasion, they are in a sense admitting it does happen. I defend the fact that it happens no where near the frequency at HHS or really any open enrollment school as much as some like to think it does. People use this reason a lot, but in most cases their school has the same ability to attract out of district kids as anyone. In your case in Boone Co, that is not the case and they chose for it to be that way. My argument in Boone co it 1) I think people make a bigger deal out of it than is really is, blaming they can't compete because of the ability for other schools to get a couple out of district players. I say that reasoning is a very small factor as to why the gap is so large. And 2) with the growth that is going on in Union right now, it's really a non-factor advantage because you are getting new kids and families every year. Not through open enrollment, but thru growth. So right now, there most likely isn't any real advantage for open enrollment schools in NKY because my guess is Ryle and Cooper are adding athletes faster than any of the other schools in NKY...outside of maybe SK.

 

Again, I just don't buy in to all the excuses. I can't stand them! Look, I'm on your side! I'd love for NKY 6A and all NKY football to dominate the entire state. But man we have a long way to go to just change the culture and mindset of our kids and parents.
