This doesn't have games from the 90s when Ryle was young and in 3A.

We have had trouble covering kicks. IE. the Henry Clay game. If we kick it and the average return is to the 40 or better ( TD ) why not kick the onside? At least you have a chance to get the ball back or your start D at the same or close to the same field position without the threat of a long return. Running up the score is not the point. Looks like the coach is trying to strengthen a weakness with un-ordinary tactics.

He needs to fix it soon bc the Raiders have great potential to do some big things, but you can't let Trinity, X, Male, SK or SC start at their 40 each possession.

I was there but it was a long time ago. I've seen so many games since then. My gut says yes. I believe they were running 9's on us till the end. Same year HHS had that kicker, I believe the Collinsworth kid that was kicking balls out of the end of the endzone?

Now that right there is funny. Obviously do not know facts, but have an answer. Believe it was after this game that Warner decided not to play Highlands anymore because Dale sent some kids out for the second half with no shoulder pads and helmets, to not get them injured for the playoffs. Also Griffin Urlage ran back an interception for a TD as time expired. Kid was a soph., should he have just laid down on the field?

This is what upset more opposing coaches than anything else. Fans always thought they were running up the score but coaches seemed to dislike HHS kids coming out in the second half clearly showing them they weren't going back in the game (no pads or in street clothes).

I'm not saying it never happened because I did not see every game. But I can honestly say I NEVER saw Dale run it up. If they continued to score, it wasn't with starters in the game at their normal positions or it was clearly the second or third team.

Other than posting final scores, you know nothing about Highlands football! The bolded proves it. :sssh:

I think this falls under the "every play is designed to score" file. No matter who is on the field, there is always the possibility of breaking away and scoring. No offense can be expected to take a knee for a quarter to save face. When you have talent and depth you are going to score a lot, no way around it. if feelings are hurt, make more stops

So subs don't know how to take a knee?

I'm not saying I have a priblem

with what they did but at the same time don't get upset if people say he ran the score up because no matter who was on the field it was still running it up. You all act like subs are morons and coaching staffs are morons because they don't know how to teach victory formations and take a knee.

The excuse that HHS had subs in and would still score doesn't make sense. I've seen more football games than I could count and have seen other teams with backups in purposely NOT SCORE but I guess Dale wasn't a very good coach that didn't know how to teach his players how to take a knee and use sportsmanship. I thought Dale was a good coach, guess he couldn't even teach the basics.

Again, I could care less about running the score up but for the homers to say it wasn't running the score up when passes were still being thrown after being up 30 to 40 pts late in the game and still scoring, well if it smells like poop and looks like poop, it's poop so quit already with the denial, it makes you look silly.

This is ridiculous. How do you tell a sophomore running back to take a fall in a varsity game when he is put in in the third quarter and breaks free. Those kids have earned the right to enjoy scoring a touchdown in front of the fans and having their name in the paper the next morning. When the score gets out of hand it only matters to the people in the stands and everyone else on Saturday morning. Friday night it is still a game and you play to win. If the score looks "run up" blame the coaching staff who couldn't come up with adjustments to make stops.

I don't remember, someone asked a question. I don't follow HHs except when we line up acrossed the field. I really don't give a rip who what when, it's the parents like some of you who keep people from giving a rip except hoping you lose. Take your high and mighty shots. I got one for you , what's your record? What was the score last friday? I'm going to enjoy watching your season unfold or more likely implode. Good day gentlemen. ( I use that term rather loosely ). I can tell you something from the good old days. I would of handed each one of you your behinds on a platter on the field. Let that marinate. Bunch of bench warmers with big mouths.

kicking it deep and kicking it in the end zone are two different things. The Raiders have been gashed early kicking it to the 5. Squib kicks and onsides kicks seem logical, Actually pretty good coaching.

So you are saying all those years when backups came in after the game was well in hand that Highkands never threw a pass and only ran dive plays? Come on!!! Like I said I could care less either way but when daddy's in here try and say scores weren't ran up I have to laugh at the ignorance. Run the score up, I don't care, just don't lie about it and claim that wasn't the case.

Like me I said I've seen plenty of games

and have been on the sidelines when coaches tell their backups not to score

and take knees and just run the same play over and over again up the middle so not to run the score up. Now if you are saying Dale didn't know how to do that then he was a moron for a coach.

Just don't try and say when scores were being run up it wasn't running it up. It is what it is.

I I never said they shouldn't score if they break lose on a run, what I said is don't pretend it isn't what it is period.

Why so bitter? Let the past go, and enjoy your running clock win over the Birds. It may never happen again.

Why is football the only sport where feelings get hurt by this concept. In baseball no one says if you are up 9 to 1 that the coach should tell his players to "swing at everything and strike out, just don't hit the ball guys lets send them home with a little pride". At that is an 8 score difference. Or in football vernacular 56 points.

GOLF..."son you are up by six strokes with one hole left, hit this one into the woods for me"
