August 25, 201610 yr Was Slusher that good that everybody knows who he is and where he's from by just his last name? Yes...at football and baseball. For those outside of NKY, he's from Beechwood.
August 25, 201610 yr Was Slusher that good that everybody knows who he is and where he's from by just his last name?Definitely if you are a NKY fan. Outside of that then only to those who actually follow KY high school football.
August 25, 201610 yr He was walking on at Morehead too wasn't he? I believe Morehead doesn't offer Football scholarships so they are all basically "Walk Ons" unless I'm mistaken. Can someone confirm this?
August 25, 201610 yr Author I believe Morehead doesn't offer Football scholarships so they are all basically "Walk Ons" unless I'm mistaken. Can someone confirm this? That is correct. Morehead Football is kind of like D3 when it comes to that. They do not offer scholarships but the do help to find grant money from other areas primarily academics.
August 25, 201610 yr The young man can flatout play. Never understood the Morehead decision in the first place. Would suspect (iMO) he was disappointed in the caliber of that experience and righted the error immediately. Not to belittle D3, and especially the Morehead program, but Brett Slusher is a special talent.
August 25, 201610 yr When i watched him he was one of the better players I watched. Seemed to be able to do everything above average.

They play at a much higher level than D3. I don't know why he left, but I doubt it had anything to do with the caliber of play. To say he was "too good" for Morehead is a stretch.
