August 1, 201610 yr This morning we had to have our 12 1/2 year old golden retriever put to sleep. He developed several different issues in the last few months and seemed to go down hill pretty quickly. Never imagined it would hurt this bad. Thought going to work would take my mind off of it but was wrong. We got Max when he was 8 weeks old before we had kids. Our two kids haven't known life without him around. Today just sucks.
August 1, 201610 yr Oh goodness, I'm so sorry for your loss! I can't imagine how much it hurts and how much he'll be missed. My heart hurts every time I see a thread like this. I know it's said all the time on here, but unless you own a dog, you really just don't "get it". Thinking of you and yours today.

August 1, 201610 yr My wife & (3) grown children lost our family dog back in January. Its tough. Eventually, the warmth of their memory will outweigh the heart pains of the loss. Sorry for your loss!!!
August 1, 201610 yr Man that stinks...I know it's tough on the entire family, especially the kids. Just spent the last hour playing fetch with my little fellow, my heart goes out to you.

August 2, 201610 yr So very very for your loss. I have a Bichon Frise that is 5 years old. Got him when he was 6 weeks old. Dread like heck the day that I lose him. I love pets but the bad thing about owning them is they have too short a time span as a member of the family.
