This has zero to do with how awesome the facility is, it is truly spectacular.

It's much ado about nothing. It reminds me of all those "World Greatest Dad" t-shirts. Should everyone wearing one of them be flogged in a public square? Who really cares? Sagrin awarded them the mythical National Championship for that season 40 years after it took place. Maybe he should be the one flogged for doing so.

Did UK have a brain fart when doing this? Yep, does it really matter? No. It's a recruiting tool, the same type of recruiting tool many other colleges use when they have a big time recruit visiting and they pull out all the stops and create videos saying "So and So 2018 National Champion!" while showing a photoshopped pic of the recruit wearing the teams jersey etc. No big deal, just a silly thing they could have avoided. Even many in BBN like myself are laughing at it but we aren't losing any sleep over it either.

 

BTW, I am the Worlds greatest Dad...my coffee cup says so.

I'm okay with them considering themselves national champs. I'm okay with there being a sign up in the facility saying so. But to create your own trophy? Too much.

So using this new criteria, UK basketball should have one more national title than UCLA now, right?
