UK finished 7th in the AP Poll after the 1950 season. That didn't keep the Wildcats from claiming the national title decades later and having a new trophy made for their new facility.

In 1950 they beat undefeated Oklahoma in the Sugar Bowl who had a 31 game winning streak. The Cats were declared number 1 in 3 major polls after the victory. Not all smoke & mirrors.

Sure, they had a nice season. But they were declared national champions in ZERO major polls. Which 3 major polls are you talking about?

I think national titles for the most part were determined Prior to the bowl games. UK defeating undefeated Oklahoma happened after the polls were completed, I think I'm right on that.
