If they really wanted to stick HHS they could have stopped them at 4A and let them travel and miss the CCH rivalry.

Me too! Although we do lose a few traditional down-state opponents, like Lex Cath, Boyle and Rockcastle.

Maybe with LexCath now only having four district opponents instead of seven, they can really start a rivalry with CovCath and Highlands. That would make the change to six classes more palatable.

Nice NKY 2A district with Newport, NewCath, Lloyd and Holy Cross.

 

Plus with NCC and Danville moving to 2A, Beechwoods state titles should sky rocket.

Well the good thing is we'll play CCH and HHS at the end of the season now . And also be able to Beef up the schedule alittle now that there is only 5 teams in our district ! With 8 teams this year in the district , it was hard to schedule teams from OHIO or down state . I like the district now , but change is good ! Let's Play Some Football !!!:ylsuper:

I sure am going to miss the great games we've played with you guys over the past few years. Somehow, I don't think one of our current coaches will want to extend the rivalry any longer.:irked: As far as the 5A district, the wheels of my master plan have started to turn. My question is, 4 years from now, when the Boone Co. school system builds another school, what will happen? Can/will we return to the glory days(for me at least) of:

 

Ryle

Dixie

Highlands

CovCath

Conner

SK

Holmes

 

And new additions Boone Co. and whatever they'll call the new Boone Co. school?

On a side note after hearing about CovCath/Highlands today, this was mentioned to me:

 

"They have opened it up to where 85% of the teams get in, and yet the same teams that never made it are even LESS likely to make it with their new district"

 

Do you guys think a team like Scott has a better chance of making the playoffs now, in a 8 team district, or with their new district(I'm assuming 3 for sure, maybe 4 will make it)?

We have been in a district with them before so nothing new here. We will go out and play them hard as we can and to the best of our ability. Playing great teams only makes your team better. In my opinion.

I think it would be a lot easier for Scott to make the playoffs in this new format. Scott could be 0-9 and just have to beat Holmes to get into the playoffs, instead of making it in front of four other teams. It would kind of be like a few years ago when Scott was still in 3A with Highlands, CovCath, Holmes, and Grant Co. That last playoff spot came down to whoever won that Scott-Grant Co. game.

Is there a way for Dixie to jump to the next level and play the teams they have always enjoyed playing or is this all set in stone with no room to move from level to level?
