July 9, 201610 yr Police officers shot in Georgia and St. Louis were ambushed | WREG.com A police officer was shot in a suburb of St. Louis. KMOV-TV reports the officer was shot around 11:10 a.m. The officer stopped a car and was walking away from it when he was shot in the back. The incident was caught on the police car cameras. The officer is in the hospital in critical condition. In Georgia, authorities say a man opened fire on a police officer in Valdosta Friday morning. The man reportedly called 911 to report a break-in. When the officers arrived, he ambushed them, hitting the officer in the abdomen, just below the protective vest. Other shots hit the officer’s vest. The suspect was also shot. Both men are expected to survive. Valdosta Police Chief Brian Childress said the officer was shot “multiple times” but is going to be fine. 2 officers just doing their job ambushed by a couple of piles of crap.

July 9, 201610 yr Just think how high this number would be without vests like the 70's and 80's... Development and use of vest is the reason the #'s killed are lower today than the 70's and 80's. Advances in training and upgrading of weapons officers carry also have led to less officers being killed now than in the last few decades. It's not really because it's less dangerous today, as many would have you believe.

The Chief's son shot and killed a police officer on Father's Day 2010 while high on PCP just a few weeks after becoming Chief. He was then shot 9 times in return fire and killed. His partner was shot and killed while in duty. And his younger brother was killed by drug dealers. His story is pretty remarkable.

July 9, 201610 yr But there is a disconnect between blacks and the police and that needs to be fixed somehow someway. To ignore that disconnect is just as wrong. There is so much that needs to be discussed and worked on but we can't seem to get past the most basic conversation pieces to have any true progress. It seems to me that both sides just want to blame the other instead of trying to find real solutions to real problems.
