The vast majority of pro-gun people are okay with these mass shootings continuing to happen as long as they get to keep their guns though. That's IMO the difference. They aren't willing or open to looking for solutions.

I am fine saying it is not a gun problem, but there is definitely something around the gun culture this nation has harvested that doesn't jive. To me it is not about regulating or abolishing guns, it is about reshaping said culture.

In order to legally operate them, you have to take a written test (don't have to in order to buy a gun), a driving test (no test required to buy a gun), and if you mess up too often you can lose the privilege to drive all together. Again, what is the problem with making it a little tougher to get a weapon?

Here's what I posted in another thread: We can start by actually enforcing the many laws already on the books. I can get on board with more background checks (however this last shooter passed three if I recall correctly). I think we need to stop handing out psychotropic drugs like they're candy. We can see to it that the mandatory penalty for using a firearm in the commission of a violent crime is stringent. We need to do something to end leniency and revolving door justice. Criminals need to know that the penalty for using a gun in a violent crime isn't just a mere threat, but swift, certain, severe punishment. We need to stop being PC and stop worrying about offending people based on their lineage or religion. I've been on a sabbatical for a while and I have not gone to every threaf I missed. I left because the rhetoric caused me to be angry, and that isn't what I want BGP to be for me. I can at least in part agree all you say is a good place to start the conversation. I want mandatory, recurring gun safety training to be a requirement. I want stricter laws pertaining to the harm or death og/at the hands of minors under the age of 16.
