All I'm asking for is open mindedness and an EFFORT to discuss alternatives to the accessibility of firearms in our country. Like Ive said, if you can't even consider rethinking the way we do some things, you are okay with these tragedies. Nobody here has has blamed a gun for any of those incidents. We simply realize we as a country need to take a hard look at things and how we can improve the situation and prevention. You clearly have no intention of doing that. I would suggest you re-read some of these threads. I have every intention of discussing solutions. Viable ones. Like allowing law enforcement the ability to check mental health records. Arming school guards. Problem is, every time one of these is suggested, we are told those aren't solutions. Stricter gun laws are the only solution to many. How's is that working out in Chicago? California? I have been rethinking the way to do things, just not to your liking. I would submit the only intention you have is to cause discourse, not look for real solutions.

That's simply not true, unless you're missing what some have posted or ignoring them. Here's what I posted in another thread: We can start by actually enforcing the many laws already on the books. I can get on board with more background checks (however this last shooter passed three if I recall correctly). I think we need to stop handing out psychotropic drugs like they're candy. We can see to it that the mandatory penalty for using a firearm in the commission of a violent crime is stringent. We need to do something to end leniency and revolving door justice. Criminals need to know that the penalty for using a gun in a violent crime isn't just a mere threat, but swift, certain, severe punishment. We need to stop being PC and stop worrying about offending people based on their lineage or religion.

Honestly, I think the blame the NRA is losing a ton of steam with gun free utopias being attacked.

What did they do to respond in such an efficient manner? Is there something we can learn from the German authorities response in how to deal with these situations without a loss of life?

Where we disagree is that your "viable solutions" in no way even consider reconstructing gun laws. I am open to that idea. I am also open to the other ideas you suggested, I think they would be a step in the right direction. If I am causing discourse because I am willing to explore the idea of studying and possibly changing some gun laws, then so be it. There will never be any progress as long as "your" side refuses to budge.

Do you think that this same scenario had never played out here? Police and citizens have likely stopped mass shootings from happening multiple times in the US. My guess is it is partly due to poor planning or execution from the shooter.

June 24, 201610 yr I don't know. I'm just asking questions. Id bet many mass shootings end in suicide. Because of that, unless we start hiring police that can be everywhere, or teleport, there's not much they're going to be able to do different in these situations. I believe most police agencies are now issuing AR-15 rifles to patrol units and patrol units respond and seek out the shooter immediately vs waiting for a swat team like they used to do several years ago. I'm saying all this because i believe that the only thing that increases the chance of stopping one of these lunatics quicker is luck (police are close, or the lunatic has a bad plan, etc), or a nearby civilian who is proficient with a firearm is armed and ready to go when the attack starts.
