Is Bruce a free agent after this season?

He has a club option for $13M. Bargain price for his current production. Even if he doesn't have a place next season, a team could pick up his option and then trade him before the season starts.

I'd be fine with the Cubs picking him up. Fowler in all likelihood is gone next year. Move Heyward to CF and put Bruce in right with Schwarber in left

The Reds are not going to deal Bruce inside the division and you can take that to the bank.

It's not like he's Votto...I'm not saying the Cubs will be willing to pay them what they want because maybe he wouldn't be in their long term plans, but it'd be stupid for the Reds to not trade to the highest bidder regardless of division. But it would be a Reds thing to do...

Cubs have no one left.

Cubs have plenty

Why would they care if they get a good prospect or two for him? He'd only be with the Cubs for one more season and the Reds have zero chance of competing next year.

Well, can’t argue with that statement but Redlegs revenue for 2015 was 237 million which ranks them 23rd. The Cubs come in with 340 million, ranking them 5th. Cardinals raked in 300 million, ranking them 8th. • MLB revenue by team/franchise 215 | Statistic

Pretty much the same position when it comes to value as well. • MLB franchise values 2

As someone who's endured many losing years, I enjoy my team winning more than them being profitable

That is true. I was just trying to show the Redlegs aren't in the same ballpark financially with the Cubs and Cardinals when it comes to multiple big signings of premium players.

They're still turning a nice profit. Cincinnati is a baseball town, if they'd invest some of that profit back into the team, and remain competitive, I'd think they'd make more $.

That's actually not true. Word is Banana Bob hasn't made any money (or very little) since owning the team. The payroll has risen drastically since he took over.

Aren't they supposed to get a big bump with a new Fox TV contract? Or has that already occurred.

I believe it's 2017.
