Dude - I think the MLB trade deadline is end of JULY, not JUNE. In fact, since it is a Leap Year, the deadline is apparently AUG 1st this year.

He said a month and 8 days. That would be the end of July.

Indians have traded utility man Michael Martinez to the Red Sox for cash considerations

The Brewers have traded Aaron Hill and cash considerations to the Red Sox for Aaron Wilkerson and Wendell Rijo

Brad Ziegler was also sent from AZ to Boston where he will likely become the set up man. For now, he's expected to get some occasional save opps with Kimbrel out.

The Red Sox have acquired All-Star pitcher Drew Pomeranz from the San Diego Padres for 18 year old pitcher Anderson Espinoza' date=' one of the Red Sox top pitching prospects. Pomeranz is 2nd in MLB in opponent's batting average and OPS. He will be under team control through 2018. Drew Pomeranz headed to Boston Red Sox after trade with San Diego Padres

Wow Espinoza could be special.

He could very well be. He's also 18 but they have a chance to win it all this year. Tough call. I remember giving up Hanley Ramirez and Anibal Sanchez to get Josh Beckett and Mike Lowell (who was a throw in contract dump). That one led to a World Series Championship. I also remember giving away Jeff Bagwell for Larry Anderson. You just never know with prospects. With the Red Sox farm system they can afford to give up a couple of their big prospects to try and win now. Pomeranz is just 27 and will be around for 2 more seasons. Hopefully it pays off.

I think the signing of Groome is what made the Sox pull the trigger on this deal.

I wish Theo would do something

What areas you wanting him to address? Pitching would be the spot if I were him.

Need bullpen help. Probably about the only spot that needs addressing

Interesting....Reading Jeff Passan's latest article, and he made note that while the Reds don't want to trade him, they may be willing to listen on DeSclafani due to the lack of quality rotation arms on the market.
