July 27, 201610 yr According to Jerry Crasnick the Reds have really ramped up their efforts to move Bruce. He mentioned that they've been in discussions with at least 4 teams and are looking for a top prospect in return. Assuming they're able to land a top-level prospect for him....I'd imagine it'd be one of these guys: Orioles - Not the best system at all. 21 year old catching prospect Chance Sisco would be a coup IMO. Indians - No way the Indians part ways with Zimmer or Frazier, and their #3 prospect Bobbie Bradley is a 1B, so he's out. I'd imagine LHP Justus Sheffield would be the target. Cubs - No way are they moving Happ. Reds would probably be stuck on Jimenez, but may entertain 3B Candelario. Dodgers - Their top prospects are pitchers, but they have a very deep system. The likes of OF'ers Cody Bellinger, Alex Verdugo, and Yusniel Diaz are also top prospects that would probably interest the Reds. I'd shoot for Verdugo. Giants - Like Baltimore, not much depth here. SS Christian Arroyo is their top prospect, but have to believe the Reds would jump at the chance to add either P Phil Bickford or Tyler Beede. Rangers - Major talent in their system. Profar and Gallo are the two major studs, but can't see them dealing either for Bruce unless it was a massive deal and included Disco. OF Lewis Brinson is another top level prospect, that they may be willing to part with. Nationals - Giolito and Turner aren't going anywhere. The next best Washington has are OF Victor Robles and P Erick Fedde. Both are top 75 prospects, and either would be a big time haul IMO. Now having said all that, they'll either move him to a team I don't have listed, or make a deal with one of them for someone completely different than what I'm thinking. :lol2: Fun to speculate either way.

Good stuff, UKMF. :thumb:
July 27, 201610 yr That's actually not true. Word is Banana Bob hasn't made any money (or very little) since owning the team. The payroll has risen drastically since he took over. Oh he's made his money, may not show up on his personal return but he's made his money.

July 27, 201610 yr Bobby Bradley is 2 years away still, prob 3 from being meaningful. I'm well aware of that....A lot of the guys I listed are 2-3 years away.
July 27, 201610 yr I'm well aware of that....A lot of the guys I listed are 2-3 years away. So why wouldn't he be an option? Not helping the Indians anytime soon. Votto will be 36 by the time Bradley is up.
July 27, 201610 yr So why wouldn't he be an option? Not helping the Indians anytime soon. Votto will be 35-36 by the time Bradley is up. Because Votto will still be here until 2024. They aren't going to just sit his $25M contract on the bench, and no team is going to even entertain the idea of trading for him.
July 27, 201610 yr Because Votto will still be here until 2024. They aren't going to just sit his $25M contract on the bench, and no team is going to even entertain the idea of trading for him. Unfortunately the Reds wont be able to even really begin a rebuild until he is gone.

Reds shouldn't shy after from the premier power bat in the minors if they have that chance.
July 27, 201610 yr They will dump him somewhere. Reds shouldn't shy after from the premier power bat in the minors if they have that chance. There's no way anyone would take on that contract at that stage. If they would, it means Votto's still playing at such a high level the Reds aren't going to want to move him. Plus, by that time he'll have his 10/5 rights.

Reds just drafted a catcher.

I'd say Sheffield, Beede, and Candelario are the three most obtainable. They don't necessarily need a catcher, but my list was more of what guys qualify as "top prospects" from the teams with interest.
July 27, 201610 yr What about the Reds shopping Billy? I would shop about anyone on the roster for the right return, except Hamilton and Barnhart
