June 22, 201610 yr Dwight Howard Opts Out of Rockets Contract: Latest Details, Comments, Reaction | Bleacher Report Opted out of his contract that was going to pay him over $23 million next year. Does he really think anyone is going to pay him that or more? He hasn't had a good season in....well...has he ever had a really good season? I know he had the potential to be great, but that has long since past.
June 22, 201610 yr Someone is going to give it to him. There is sooooooo much money that is goin to be thrown around with this new cap number. He's going to get $100M+ from someone. Plus he hates playing with James Harden.

June 23, 201610 yr Maybe he can get someone to pay him 1/2 of what he thinks he's worth , that would be a huge raise . But he's nothing more than an average player .
June 23, 201610 yr Dwight to the Knicks? Pau Gasol would be a better fit and apparently he and Phil are tight. Knicks can't afford to give a stiff like Howard max money.
June 23, 201610 yr I agree. He's a moron. However, the league is full of GM's just as silly as him. Each one thinks they will be the one to re-ignite his career. I'm firmly against signing anyone to a big contract that only shoots 40% from the FT line.
June 23, 201610 yr With the salary cap going up this year he'd have been an idiot to not opt out. Everyone should opt out if they can. Go get that money.

June 23, 201610 yr You think someone will pay him more than the $23M he was going to get next year? I'm not sure he's worth a 1/3 of that. Yes. He's still a 7 foot big man who at his worst can still rebound and play defense. These teams are going to have Monopoly money to play with this summer. You think a team like the Heat won't jump all over Dwight if they lose Whiteside or a team like the Celtics won't add Dwight when they take a look at their big men and then look at Dwight? Someone will pay him 25 million this year. Even if it is for a year. Cleveland anyone? If Ezeli and Biyombo can command 15-20 million a year then Dwight can get 25 million easy.
