2016 Rio Summer Olympics

Absolutely. I see no point in him going through four more years of training for the next Olympics (when he'll be 35!). He's done his service for the country many times over.

Not just to his country, to the sport in general. We would all rarely care about swimming if it wasn't for him all these years.

Does anybody talk about Mark Spitz anymore? He was a big deal for decades.

Did you guys see the story of our oldest swimmer Ervin. He won a gold at age 19 in 2000 Olympics and then gave up swimming. He's back at the age of 35 and just won his semifinal heat.

Don't you think that's a teensy bit different than training non-stop for two decades? Granted, it's impressive that this guy is back in at 35, but it's fair to say he's not been undergoing grueling training in between his Olympic trips, but only perhaps the past few years to build up to this moment.

I love the indoor volleyball. They friggin annihilate the ball.

We're gonna need some big performances in track and field to keep this medal lead intact. And some medals in offbeat sports.

I could be wrong but I think the US track and field gets more medals than China or Japan, perhaps combined even.

Sorry, I wasn't trying to compare him to Michael Phelps. You stating Phelps would be 35 in 4 more years just reminded me of the story I heard. It was totally different topic. Just thought it was cool he won at 19, quit training and now is back at 35. Thought it was dang impressive.

And Gabby sitting while the other 2 girls on the team were standing and cheering... Not a good look, makes her seem self centered.

How cool is this picture of Katie Ledecky getting Michael Phelps autograph at the age of 9.

The US vs Brazil match was a lot of fun.

I went back and actually read the article after my post, and I do agree that him getting back to that level after the way his life turned sideways after winning gold is pretty incredible.
