Anyone they find suspicious of it. So every bar will need to have an officer on the scene to test anyone they suspect of having a drink that's also carrying? Not feasible.

I don't know what bars you go to, almost every bar I have been to recently either has a police officer standing on the same corner, or just around the block.

So if there's armed officers already on the scene (as you say) why is there a need to have patrons armed?

How many mass shootings happen at a Bass Pro/Cabelas, NRA meetings, gun stores, gun shows, police stations?

How many mass shootings happen at schools, movie theaters, colleges and gun free businesses?

Billy Bob with his gun must have some type of effect.

There is usually some emotional attachment to the location a shooter chooses....whether it be a church (religion as a motive), a school or college they attended, a former workplace or its just simply a location that is going to be crowded and full of potential victims. In addition most of these mass shooters end up dead..whether from their own hand or from law enforcement. I'm not sure they place great priority on attacking a target simply because there are no guns and its "safe". There are more than 300 million guns in private hands and these events continue to happen. How many more is it going to take to prevent these events from occurring?? I don't know that gun free zones are any safer or any less safe than non gun free zones.

I would imagine the latter. In my opinion' date=' it isn't plausible to expect establishments to hire multiple highly trained individuals to handle terrorist attacks because of cost. If you fear for your life going to a bar/club (or as others have mentioned, even BW3's on a busy night during a UK game) then stay home. It just doesn't seem like a realistic solution to me. I see what you're saying about removing them from a gun free zone, but if that were the case, I'd be visiting a lot less places.[/quote']

This is where I differ you don't need a Seal to stop this guy. There are plenty of instances of CCW people stopping bad guys.

Because, even though there are officers on scene, it takes them some amount of time to get to the bar. If a police officer is posted on a corner, and someone walks into a bar at the end of the street and starts shooting the place up, there is going to be an amount of time that passes between the police being notified and reacting. It is much more urgent, in this case, that there is someone in the immediate vicinity who is armed.

However, if someone is believed to be intoxicated and in possession of a firearm, this is much less "urgent" than the case of an active shooter. It can be called into the police, and they can investigate the situation.

The Colorado theater shooter drove past 2 local theaters to go to one that was gun free. None of these mass shooters want a gun fight, they are all cowards.

Sure there is. It just seems to me that most people who clamor about having more people carrying have a very negative opinion of those who decide not to. That they're somehow part of the problem because they don't feel the need to carry.

And you have the right not too. But the ordinary guy or gal with a ccw is not a threat to you at all. So those who choose to be defenseless victims in society should not feel the need to make everyone defenseless. You can choose your path. It's what makes America great. Good people with guns don't scare me. The terrorist or the kid with an illegal gun in his pocket that will shoot you for your wallet or phone does worry me somewhat.

You all can preach that narrative as much as you want. You can completely do away with Gun Free Zones, that is not going to stop these shootings from happening.

There's that word again lol jk.

I just picture a place like a packed Holy Grail or Tin Roof at the Banks. The shooter doesn't even have to get in the door and could kill 20+ people. You can barely move in there when the place is full. With all the chaos, I'm not sure how an average Joe CCW takes the terrorist out.

Not saying you're lying, but do you have any example of when a CCW took out someone (a terrorist) wielding an AR ready to kill many people, similar to Orlando? I'd be really interested in reading that story.

Is anything thing going to stop them from happening?

In reality, I'd say no.

Because these shootings just coincidentally all happen in gun free zones, I doubt it.

There are numerous examples of where a person with a CCDW prevented a crime and multiple people being hurt. See the youtube video below for one example

A good guy with a gun could save lives, do you want a situation with a psychopath having time to round people up, or do you want someone with say two 15 round Glock 19 mags sending bullets back at them?
