Highlands 7 Beechwood 1 (9th Region Championship)

Featured Replies

In my opinion, Beechwood has been the most talented team in the region for 3 years and yet have failed to win the region. Quite disappointing for the Tiger faithful.

Big congrats to the Birds. Way to take it when it counts.:ylsuper::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::angrybird12::clap:

Loving the icons tonight!:thumb:

Good pitching beats good hitting all the time. Coaching has nothing to do with that aspect.

Sorry for the sudden end to the updates! Both my phone and my gf's phone died on me.

Very impressive effort by Doty/Raisor/Birds tonight. Wish nothing but the best for the boys in their quest for a state title.

Heartbreaking way to end the year for those Beechwood kids. What impressive young men and careers they put together during their time with the Tigers.

And...MAKE SURE YOU RETURN THE FOUL BALLS TO THE FIELD!

Plugging 8 new position players in this year to replace Sr's is coaching.

Agree to disagree. Beechwood has to score more than one run to win a region championship. Haven't seen stats or wasn't at the game but it seems Fieger had a rough night?

Still good pitching will stop good hitting all the time. They didn't hit, but again great pitching.

As a Bluebird grad I'm thrilled for the Birds...but as a Beechwood father..... Bobby needs to go... geez! It doesn't get more talented as this team... They deserve better! Imo!

Yes, disappointing because you want more but that is baseball. It is the most unpredictable of all the sports. As someone posted above - Beechwood had no problem with Doty earlier in the season but Doty handled Beechwood in this one. That's baseball. It is unpredictable.

Beechwood has two All A titles with these seniors, won 32 games this year and were regional runner up. That is something to be proud of and shows the talented team that they are.

Congratulations and thanks to the seniors and Coach Mullins on a great season.

I told everyone at the beginning of the year that Highlands had the best pitching in the region. Good pitching beats good hitting every day of the year. If the Birds can manufacture some runs they could be a tough out at state. If JB isn't the best coach in the 9th region I'd like to know who is better..

There aren't many better in the state. There's no question about the region.

Big congrats to JB and the Birds on phase 1 of their season!! Phase 2 stars next in Lexington, take it too them. Good luck at state!!

Great season by Beechwood. Unfortunately we can't send 2 schools to the state tournament because I feel the 9th would represent.

The Tigers do get more and more difficult to watch. They just seem flat. I saw very little emotion out of most of this team last night. While I know it's not football, you have to play with emotion. I saw none. It was the same with Conner game and they barely escaped that game.

Also, while I think it's great that they win the All A championship, they sure seem to settle for that. To me, that's on the coach. Got to keep the team hungry.

Congrats to the Birds. JB has really done an amazing job since taking over.

Congrats to the Birds!! An a shout out to Ricky Raisor for being named the MVP!! He set the tone Monday night beating COVCATH!

Coach Mullins is a good coach and Coach B has done a great job since being named head man at Highlands. I think the "A" does take something out of the Tigers.

Physically or mentally?

The Birds have enough to make a deep run. The new format gives them a good chance. They have solid defense, good pitching and if they get a break or two or three... they will compete very well.
