I am pretty sure some of the questions asked above have already been decided. The bridge is going to be built right next to the Brent Spence Bridge. Studies have already been completed and there are two or three design proposals in place waiting for final decisions. I also seem to recall the toll for local people being a couple dollars or even $1 in one proposal. Everything is pretty well done except for figuring out how to fund the new bridge.

I'm not a fan of paying to cross a bridge that my tax dollars already should have gone to build. It makes no difference to me one way or the other though; I never use that bridge and will continue to avoid it in the future.

I just stay out of Ohio for the most part. I work in Ft. Wright so I use 275W.

That might would happen for a little while, but it would soon correct itself and people would use the new bridge and pay the toll.

 

They are expecting the same thing in Louisville once the tolling starts. People are saying the will just use the downtown 2nd street bridge, and the Louisville bridge people think it will go on for a few weeks. Yep, that will work for ya, and when the people start realizing have nightmarish that will be, they will quickly start using the new bridge(s).

Wait if you're from the Cincinnati area you have no room to talk. Ohio is the birthplace of all road construction.

Federal and local governments rake in trillions of dollars on gas that are suppose to be used for this kind of stuff. Not to mention registration fees and taxes on your cars. No tolls and build the dang bridge. In KY it's an average of .44 cents a gallon. Say that's the national average. How many gallons are sold a day? On average 384.7 million. That's 169.2 million in tax revenue per day. Again build the bridge. 61.7 trillion a year. Build the bridge!

All to try and appease some big donors. Anyone with half a brain could look and see building a bridge 30 miles up river is not going to have impact on the Brent Spence traffic. We already have two I-275 bridges closer in to the Brent Spence with capacity that people choose not to use, instead favoring the traffic issues of the Brent Spence. But, at least now Gov. Bevin has ammo he can use to keep the big money developers off his back.

 

I say get creative with a toll plan and let's get this done. For example, if you live within 2 miles of the Brent Spence, no tolls for crossing; 2-5 miles out or work within 5 miles, $1; live more than 5-10 miles out $2; more than 10 miles out, $4.
