I'm a Republican and have voted for the Republican candidate every election since I turned 18 forty-four years ago. I'll vote Republican this time, too. But Trump cannot win the presidency. The reason: he will get obliterated by the minority vote, and he will lose the female vote. He has made too many foot in mouth statements that's going to cost him dearly. One cannot stand on a national debate stage and make a comment about the lone female GOP candidate and say, "Look at that face. Would you vote for a face like that?"

Whew! I cringed when he made that offensive comment. I'm sure women viewers didn't take too kindly to it either.

Then just last week he makes a comment about Hillary saying, "The only card she's playing right now is the female one and even they don't like her."

First off, he evidently hasn't seen most polls that have him losing the female vote by a 70 to 30 percent margin. Secondly, it was a stupid statement that he shouldn't have even said.

Trump can't win because he can't seem to get out of his own way. There's times he needs to count to 10 before making a response to a question or a knee jerk comment.

I followed some of the coverage of Hillary on her visit to Ashland. Her solution to rural poverty is quite naturally, a $30 billion government handout!!!! No mention of economic development, no mention of promoting job growth.

 

I listened to Chelsea in Louisville talk about the heroin epidemic. Her position was to deal with it by funding treatment and rehab. Like that has been effective for the last 30 years? How about securing the border so it makes it more difficult to get drugs into the country?

 

Outside of the free food, I doubt there was much substance to Hillary's visit to Ashland. There is a reason why it was a private event and even most of the people in town didn't know where it would be held until the day prior.

 

Seems like Criminal's, rather Clinton's 'Director of African-American Outreach' better get cracking to keep up.

I will say this, if Trump wins and is not elected there will be issues. Right or wrong this will be the election that will drive reform and I am afraid at a big cost. Screenshot this. :thumb:

Funny you mention the bolded. There were walkups today in Ashland requesting shirts from a print shop/creamery/comic book shop (I know that's an odd combination) that said "women's card." The same shop made a new ice cream called the "Benghazi Blizzard" which I have yet to try. Basically, it seems that Hillary wasted her time by coming to Ashland, as I doubt she made many new friends/voters.

However she did force several businesses nearby to close and I'm sure used up plenty of the local police departments resources. Wonder if she will pay that money back through her campaign resources? I seriously doubt it.

Some observations.

 

- 'The polls' showed ALG was supposed to be in contention. She wasn't even close. Polls are designed shape opinion, not objectively report the sentiment of the voters. That is especially true at this stage.

- Cruz names female VP to capture that women-hatred of Trump - it failed miserability. Maybe because the women-hatred of Trump is not there.

- Trump says HRC gets no more than 5% of the vote if she is a he. Obviously a shot to diminish her in a 'mean way'. He then polls above HRC for the first time.

 

 

I do not know any women that 'hate' Trump openly. but I do know a lot who 'hate' Hillary and will say so. Of the young people - they are Bernie people. They have no affinity to HRC. She will not get the 'hip' vote like Obama. Her core is older women and blacks. After that she can not count to dominate any other demographic. She wins her home state of Illinois and she wins California. Every other state is likely in play agains Trump.

I said it before when the polls said HRC was 10+ points ahead of Trump and I will say it now on this new one. Polls this early when the candidates aren't even decided yet are totally meaningless IMO. I do get a kick out of the many people who think Trump would lose badly to HRC. I think he would do BETTER than Cruz against HRC because there are Dems who will vote for Trump...middle class working guys who have never voted for an R in their life are seriously considering Trump. Cruz won't get any Dems to cross over.

 

There are so many surprises to come before November (on both sides)...way too early to be able to say who wins. Watching the two of them debate will be interesting to say the least!

I love the people that are simply convinced they know exactly what's going to happen, lol.

When Hillary starts talking about Trump's woman issues, Trump will start talking about Bill's woman issues.

I live in Ohio an obvious swing state. I see zero signs for Hillary along the streets or in people's lawns in my area. You will see Trumps here and there, I've actually seen a fair amount of Bernie's.

Sorry, but anecdotal evidence based on yard signs simply deflects from the two biggest problems facing the GOP today: lack of support for Republicans in urban areas and lack of support for Republicans among non-white voters.

 

In order to win the election, Trump is going to have to run the table in the upper Midwest and pick off states such as Florida and Virginia. The former may be more difficult than anticipated, especially with a new poll showing he trails Mrs. Clinton by a whopping 13 points in Minnesota.
